Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

MuPDF compiled to WebAssembly for QuickWin's WAMR runtime (JS longjmp, no wasm exceptions)

Readme

@quickwinlabs/mupdf-wasm

MuPDF compiled to WebAssembly, tailored for QuickWin's WAMR runtime. This is not the stock upstream mupdf npm package (which targets browsers/Node): WAMR cannot execute the wasm exception instructions that upstream's emscripten build enables, so this build swaps them out for emscripten's JS-based longjmp and keeps the module unminified for debuggability.

Build provenance

| input | value | | --- | --- | | mupdf commit | 05c6564035d20e3ed1998ffa392c9d17b2cd6a45 (1.28 development line) | | emsdk | 4.0.8 | | patch | patches/wamr-compat.patch |

The patch removes -fwasm-exceptions and switches -sSUPPORT_LONGJMP=wasm to =1, and skips terser. See build.sh to reproduce the artifacts from source (auditors: run it and diff against the committed files).

Runtime requirements (QuickWin side)

The wasm module expects the WAMR host to be built/configured with:

  • WAMR_BUILD_EXCE_HANDLING=1 (exception handling reconstruction)
  • import-global linking support
  • an app heap of ~40KB (heap_size=40960 in src/quickjs-wamr.c)

These are already in place in QuickWin; consuming this package outside QuickWin requires a comparable host setup.

Files

  • mupdf.js — ES module wrapper (JS API: Document, Page, Pixmap, …)
  • mupdf-wasm.js / mupdf-wasm.wasm — emscripten glue + wasm binary
  • mupdf.d.ts / mupdf-wasm.d.ts — TypeScript definitions

Versioning & publishing

The version follows the upstream mupdf development line this build was taken from (1.28.0 = 1.28 line snapshot at the pinned commit). Publishing is automatic: bump version in package.json and push to main — CI compares against the registry and publishes when it is new.
