Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@renduo/cli

npm version

Official CLI for Renduo — register React components as templates and generate PDFs.

Install

npm install -g @renduo/cli

The -g flag matters: without it, npm installs the package locally and renduo won't be on your shell's PATH, which shows up as command not found: renduo.

Prefer not to install globally? Run it through npx instead — this works with a local (non--g) install too:

npm install @renduo/cli
npx renduo whoami

Still get command not found: renduo after installing with -g? Your global npm bin directory isn't on PATH. Check where npm installs global binaries and confirm it's there:

npm config get prefix # e.g. /usr/local or ~/.nvm/versions/node/vX.Y.Z
echo $PATH # should include <prefix>/bin

Configuration

export RENDUO_API_KEY=rnd_live_your_key_here
export RENDUO_API_URL=http://localhost:3000 # optional, default: https://api.renduo.dev

Commands

renduo push MyComponent.tsx # bundles with esbuild and registers (or versions) the template
renduo push MyComponent.tsx --slug custom-slug --name "My Name"
renduo push MyComponent.tsx --sample-payload sample.json --schema schema.json
renduo push MyComponent.tsx --assets acme-sans,company-logo # assets to bake into this version

renduo templates list # lists your account's templates + active version

renduo assets push AcmeSans.woff2 # uploads a font or image
renduo assets push logo.png --name company-logo
renduo assets list
renduo assets rm company-logo

renduo generate <templateId> --props '{...}' # generates a test PDF (sync mode) and saves it to disk
renduo generate <templateId> --props-file props.json # props from a .json file instead of an inline string
renduo generate <templateId> --props '{...}' --output ./out/invoice.pdf # custom output path (default: ./<templateId>.pdf)

renduo whoami # info about the active organization and API key
