Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@reqrun/sdk

v0.1.0

Published

TypeScript SDK for ReqRun's OpenAI-compatible reliability API.

Readme

ReqRun TypeScript SDK

ReqRun is an LLM request reliability layer that durably runs OpenAI-compatible chat completion requests and lets you check their status.

Canonical package: @reqrun/sdk

If you searched for reqrun, the supported SDK and docs still live under @reqrun/sdk.

License: MIT for the published SDK package only. ReqRun's hosted backend, worker, dashboard, billing logic, and deployment stack are not included in this package.

Install

npm install @reqrun/sdk

Docs: https://www.reqrun.com/docs/sdk/typescript

Quickstart

import { ReqRun } from "@reqrun/sdk";

const reqrun = new ReqRun({
  apiKey: process.env.REQRUN_API_KEY!,
  signingSecret: process.env.REQRUN_SIGNING_SECRET!,
  baseURL: "https://api.reqrun.com",
});

const response = await reqrun.chat.completions.create({
  model: "gpt-5-nano",
  messages: [{ role: "user", content: "Hello" }],
});

If you are moving from the OpenAI SDK, keep the call shape familiar and swap the client:

// before
await openai.chat.completions.create(params);

// after
await reqrun.chat.completions.create(params);

wait=true

Use wait: true when you want ReqRun to return the completed OpenAI-style response if it finishes within the wait timeout.

const response = await reqrun.chat.completions.create({
  model: "gpt-5-nano",
  messages: [{ role: "user", content: "Summarize this in one sentence." }],
  wait: true,
  idempotency_key: "summary-001",
});

Async Fallback

If the request is accepted but not completed yet, ReqRun returns an async response with the ReqRun request id.

const response = await reqrun.chat.completions.create({
  model: "gpt-5-nano",
  messages: [{ role: "user", content: "Run a slower task." }],
  wait: false,
});

if (response.object === "chat.completion.async") {
  console.log(response.id, response.status);
}

Request Status

Poll a request later with requests.get().

const request = await reqrun.requests.get("rr_abc123");

console.log(request.status, request.attempts);

if (request.result) {
  console.log(request.result.choices[0]?.message.content);
}

API Surface

  • new ReqRun({ apiKey, signingSecret?, baseURL? })
  • reqrun.chat.completions.create(params)
  • reqrun.requests.get(id)

Project ownership is resolved from the API key. Hosted keys can also use signingSecret so a stolen bearer key alone is not enough to authorize requests. The SDK does not include dashboard/admin actions such as project creation or API key generation.
