Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Readme

@richkitjs/editors-pro

The RichKit Pro ready-made React editors. Each one works like a form input: value in, onChange out — the same contract, props and ref handle as the free @richkitjs/editors.

| Component | What it is | | -------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------ | | SimpleEditor | Full StarterKit behind a one-row toolbar, with a theme toggle | | NotionEditor | Block page: drag handle, / commands, @ mentions, outline, AI | | ClassicEditor | Labelled form field: menubar, toolbar, helper text, error state | | QuestionEditor | Multiple-choice question with formulas; value is a QuestionValue | | DocxEditor | Word-processor page with .docx import/export, zoom and print | | CommentsEditor | Anchored comment threads with a sidebar | | TrackChangesEditor | Suggesting mode with accept/reject | | AgentEditor | Document with an agent dock that drafts sections |

Install

npm install @richkitjs/editors-pro @richkitjs/editors @richkitjs/license
import '@richkitjs/editors/style.css'
import { NotificationsHost } from '@richkitjs/editors'
import { setLicenseKey } from '@richkitjs/license'

setLicenseKey('YOUR-LICENCE-KEY')

The stylesheet and <NotificationsHost /> come from @richkitjs/editors and are shared by both packages. Mount NotificationsHost once near your app root.

Use it like an input

import { useState } from 'react'
import { NotionEditor } from '@richkitjs/editors-pro'

function PostForm() {
  const [body, setBody] = useState('<p>Hello</p>')
  return <NotionEditor value={body} onChange={setBody} />
}

ClassicEditor is built for forms, with label, helperText and error:

<Controller
  name="description"
  control={control}
  rules={{ required: true }}
  render={({ field, fieldState }) => (
    <ClassicEditor {...field} label="Description" error={!!fieldState.error} />
  )}
/>

The shared props are documented in the @richkitjs/editors README. Each editor also has its own, for example NotionEditor's mentions, ai, header and footer, or DocxEditor's title and filename.

AgentEditor

Pass a streaming AI transport and drafted sections stream straight into the document:

import { anthropicComplete } from '@richkitjs/ai-anthropic'

;<AgentEditor complete={anthropicComplete({ endpoint: '/api/ai' })} />

/api/ai is your own route: it holds the API key and pipes the model's stream through (see the @richkitjs/ai-anthropic README). Or pass onDraft(prompt, editor) and return the section as HTML yourself.

QuestionEditor

Its value is structured. Each text in it is HTML:

interface QuestionValue {
  stem: string
  options: string[] // one paragraph each
  optionIds?: (string | number)[]
  correct: number // -1 when none is marked
  points: number
}

Formulas are elements carrying their LaTeX: <span data-math="x^2"></span> inline, and <div data-math-block="…"></div> on its own line in the stem. $…$ in the HTML stays text.

It needs the math styles: import '@richkitjs/extension-math/style.css'.

License

Part of RichKit Pro, licensed under the RichKit Pro License Agreement. It runs without a key on localhost and other development hosts. Production use needs a licence key — plans start at $99 a year, see the pricing page.

The key is checked locally; nothing is sent anywhere. Without one, a small "unlicensed" badge shows on production sites — the editor never stops working.
