Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Rocketflare Launch CLI

launch — the command line for Rocketflare Launch, the control plane for your company's apps.

npm i -g @rocketflare-dev/launch # Node 22+
launch login --server https://launch.example.com --name prod

Published from this repository's apps/cli (the workspace package @launch/cli) on every release tag. The rest of this page also applies inside the repository, where pnpm cli runs the source.

launch is the command line for a Launch server. Everything the web app can do or show, it can do or show too. It signs in through the browser (D26 handoff) and stores an API key per server under ~/.launch/.

pnpm cli --help # from the repo root (tsx, always current)
pnpm cli login # browser → API key for the default server (http://localhost:3001)
pnpm cli whoami
pnpm cli status [--all]
pnpm cli --json apps ls # raw JSON on stdout, nothing else

Build: pnpm --filter @launch/cli build bundles src/cli.ts with esbuild into dist/cli.js (the bin); @launch/shared is TypeScript source, so the contracts are inlined. Tests: pnpm --filter @launch/cli test (vitest, no server).

Servers

~/.launch/config.json (directory 0700, file 0600) holds named servers and a default:

launch login --server https://launch.example.com --name prod # sign in and store it as "prod"
launch servers ls # * default; keys redacted
launch --server prod apps ls # one command (or --profile prod)
LAUNCH_PROFILE=prod launch apps ls # a whole shell
launch login --admin # admin key → "<server>-admin"

Precedence: --profile > --server <name|url> > LAUNCH_URL > LAUNCH_PROFILE > the default server > http://localhost:3001. A URL uses the key stored for that URL, or none. CI: LAUNCH_API_KEY + LAUNCH_URL (no browser). Also LAUNCH_CONFIG_DIR, LAUNCH_DEBUG, LAUNCH_BANNER=off|static. Exit codes: 0 ok · 1 error · 2 not logged in · 3 forbidden.

For agents

launch commands --json # every command, argument and option
launch api ls [word] # every API route and the command that covers it
launch api show POST /api/apps # fields, an example body
launch api schema POST /api/apps # the full JSON Schema
launch api call POST /api/apps --data @body.json # validated locally, then sent

Pass --json to parse output; the header and progress lines are on stderr, and the header shows only on a terminal. Destructive commands confirm; -y, --yes skips it.

More: docs/CONCEPTS.md §11 (what the CLI covers), .claude/rules/cli.md (adding a command), and the launch-cli skill (.claude/skills/launch-cli/) for debugging from a terminal.
