Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

RodBe eXperience: CLI Project Scaffold 🚀

This project provides a CLI tool to scaffold new projects based on predefined archetypes. It's designed to streamline the creation of new projects by setting up the necessary files and configurations based on user inputs.

Features

  • Check for updates and prompt to update the CLI.
  • Create new projects with customizable options.
  • Supports different archetypes like typescript library and typescript CLI.
  • Automatically initializes a git repository.
  • Customizes project files based on user inputs.

Prerequisites

  • Node.js 22.14.0 or higher

Installation

To use this CLI tool, ensure you have Node.js installed. Then, you can run the script directly using:

npm i -g @rodbe/rbx

Usage

rbx

When you run the CLI, you'll be prompted with a series of questions to help customize your new project setup:

  1. Archetype Type: Choose from a list of available archetypes.
  2. Project Name: Input the name of your new project.
  3. Scope: Optionally, provide a scope for your project.
  4. Description: Optionally, add a description for your project.
  5. Repository URL: Provide the HTTPS URL for the project's repository.
  6. Author: Optionally, add project author information.
  7. Command Name: If the archetype type is ts-cli, you'll need to specify a command name.

You'll then be prompted with the questions as outlined above. Once completed, your project will be scaffolded in the directory specified by the project name.

Project Structure

Once you've created a new project, it will have the following structure:

  • Basic file setup cloned from the specified archetype.
  • Git repository initialized without the .git folder from the archetype source.
  • Custom placeholders in files replaced with your specified project details.

Contributions are welcome. Please ensure your changes are tested and documented.
