Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Portable Windows 11 Fluent React components extracted from Memora

Readme

@memora/ui

The reusable React UI system extracted from Memora. It packages the compact Windows 11 Fluent look, theme tokens, keyboard behavior, accessibility states, and component CSS without requiring Tailwind in the consuming project.

Install privately

Build and create a portable tarball from the Memora repository:

npm run ui:build
npm run ui:pack

Install the generated memora-ui-0.1.0.tgz in another project:

npm install /path/to/memora/memora-ui-0.1.0.tgz

For active local development, install the package folder directly:

npm install /path/to/memora/packages/memora-ui

The package is marked UNLICENSED and configured for restricted publishing. To use GitHub Packages or another private registry, rename the npm scope to your account or organization and authenticate that registry before publishing.

Use

import {
  Button,
  FluentProvider,
  SettingsRow,
  SettingsSection,
  ToggleSwitch,
} from "@memora/ui";
import "@memora/ui/styles.css";

export function Settings() {
  const [enabled, setEnabled] = useState(true);

  return (
    <FluentProvider theme="system" accentColor="#0078d4">
      <SettingsSection>
        <SettingsRow
          title="Automatic cleaning"
          description="Run after sustained memory pressure."
          control={
            <ToggleSwitch
              label="Automatic cleaning"
              checked={enabled}
              onChange={setEnabled}
            />
          }
        />
      </SettingsSection>
      <Button variant="primary">Save changes</Button>
    </FluentProvider>
  );
}

FluentProvider supports system, light, and dark themes; compact and comfortable densities; and any CSS accent color. All component classes are prefixed with memora-, so the stylesheet can coexist with an app's own CSS or utility framework.

Components

  • Foundations: FluentProvider, theme and density types
  • Controls: Button, IconButton, ToggleSwitch, ComboBox, NumberBox, SearchBox
  • Layout: SettingsSection, SettingsRow, SectionHeader, InfoRow, CommandBar, CommandGroup
  • Feedback: ProgressBar, InfoBar, Tooltip, TeachingTip, ContentDialog
  • Navigation and data: NavigationView, DataGrid
  • Menus: ContextMenu

Every icon slot accepts a React node, so the package does not force an icon dependency on consumer applications.

Visual development

npm run ui:demo

This starts the included component showcase at http://localhost:4178. The demo is intentionally excluded from the published tarball.
