Dataverse Translator
A tool for the Power Platform ToolBox (PPTB) that translates Dynamics 365 Customer Engagement / Dataverse metadata:
- Table metadata — display name, plural name, description
- Columns — display names
- Choices — option set values (label + description), local and global, plus option-set display names
- Views and forms — view and form names
- Form labels — tab, section and field labels
Every installed language is offered as a target, including the organization's base language. Managed
(non-customizable) items are marked read-only, and edits are written back with Save & Publish.
Installation
Install the tool from within Power Platform ToolBox. PPTB manages the Dataverse connection — the tool has no connection UI of its own and uses the active connection.
Documentation
Full documentation, including the design rationale and the non-obvious Dataverse/PPTB details (how form
labels and names are read via language impersonation, the metadata vs. form-XML split, and the
MergeLabels pitfall), lives in the repository:
A note on form translations
Form and view names and form tab/section/field labels cannot be read in all languages at once — the Dataverse APIs only ever return them in the calling user's UI language. To work around this, the tool temporarily switches the connected user's UI language while loading and saving those, then restores it. Avoid working in the same Dynamics session in another tab while this runs. Table metadata, columns and choice values are unaffected and use the fast metadata path.
