Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Epic-scoped orchestration for Sandcastle — plan, implement, review, and merge GitHub issues in sequence

Readme

@sewdn/sandcastle-epic

Epic-scoped orchestration layer for @ai-hero/sandcastle. Runs a plan → cluster → implement → review → merge loop for GitHub issues grouped by epic, using Sandcastle sandboxes and agent harnesses.

Requires Bun on the host (uses Bun shell and spawn APIs).

Install

bun add @sewdn/sandcastle-epic @ai-hero/sandcastle

Usage

Create a .sandcastle/ directory in your repo with prompts and env, then wire a small entry script:

import { createConfiguredEpicContext, runEpicLoopWithMessage } from "@sewdn/sandcastle-epic";

const ctx = createConfiguredEpicContext({
  epic: process.env.SANDCASTLE_EPIC ?? "a0",
  repoRoot: process.cwd(),
  sandcastleDir: import.meta.dir,
  maxIterations: 10,
});

await runEpicLoopWithMessage(ctx);

For multi-epic sequences without merging to main between epics, use runLongEpicOrchestration and resolveLongRunConfig.

See Sandcastle docs for sandbox image build, CURSOR_API_KEY, and GH_TOKEN setup.

Host environment

| Variable | Default | Purpose | | --- | --- | --- | | SANDCASTLE_PARALLEL_CLUSTERS | on | Run independent planner clusters concurrently (0 = always sequential) | | SANDCASTLE_PARALLEL_CLUSTER_LIMIT | 2 | Max concurrent clusters when parallel is on (each cluster = one sandbox + implement/review/merge) | | SANDCASTLE_SUPERVISOR | on | Invoke supervisor agent on stalls (0 to disable) | | SANDCASTLE_AGENT_IDLE_TIMEOUT_SECONDS | 1800 | Agent idle timeout per run |

Shared sandbox mounts

Each sandbox bind-mounts the host node_modules/ and .dora/ directories (no per-worktree copy). Run bun install on the host integration branch before long runs.

The orchestrator calls dora index on the host after implement, review, and merge steps so all sandboxes share one up-to-date index.

Supervisor agent

When pending merges stall for multiple iterations, or the loop nears maxIterations with open work, the orchestrator invokes a supervisor agent (prompt: supervisor-prompt.md) with recent log excerpts to diagnose and fix host/config issues.

Development

bun install
bun run typecheck
bun test
bun run build
npm publish --access public # @sewdn org
