Renderer-neutral view manifests, validation frames, action bindings, and data-to-representation mapping for Frontier apps.
frontier-view turns JSON-shaped state into stable view frames that renderers can consume without importing DOM, React, Canvas, WebGL, WebGPU, shader compilers, schema validators, mutation registries, trigger runtimes, effect runners, virtualizers, or LOD engines. Forms are one use case. The same manifest can describe inspectors, readonly detail views, editable admin panels, tables, minimaps, charts, canvas layers, shader uniforms, virtualized collections, and level-of-detail representation variants.

- View manifests are declarative JSON-like contracts. They describe source paths, write paths, type defaults, field overrides, flows, validation steps, action input mappings, visual channels, virtual range hints, and LOD hints.
- Default resolution is deterministic: field override, flow override, schema hint, semantic format, JSON type, fallback inspector.
materializeView()emits a host-neutralViewFrame. Renderers decide whetherfield.email,collection.table,mark.circle, orshader.uniformsbecomes DOM, Canvas, WebGL, WebGPU, native UI, SVG, or server output.- Validation is staged and inspectable. The package includes lightweight built-in checks for required, type, enum, min/max, length, pattern, email, dirty, capability, and action readiness. Full JSON Schema, Zod, AJV, server, and async checks remain structural adapters above this package.
- Actions are descriptors, not callbacks. A submit button, keyboard shortcut, pointer gesture, game event, or AI tool can map view state into an action input while
frontier-mutation,frontier-triggers, andfrontier-effectsremain optional peers. - Virtualization and LOD are hints.
frontier-viewcan carry viewport, count, key, estimate, lane, gap, padding, measurement, range extraction, significance, priority, cost, zoom, degradation, representation variant, budget, and shader/material metadata, whilefrontier-virtual,frontier-lod,frontier-scene, or app renderers own the actual materialization. - Visual channels can carry data paths, constants, scale/domain/range, axis/legend metadata, transforms, and update-trigger keys without binding the package to SVG, Canvas, WebGL, WebGPU, DOM, React, or a charting runtime.
Boundary
frontier-view depends only on @shapeshift-labs/frontier. It does not import DOM, React, frontier-dom, frontier-react, frontier-schema, frontier-mutation, frontier-triggers, frontier-effects, frontier-virtual, frontier-lod, frontier-scene, Playwright, browser APIs, fetch, storage, workers, shader compilers, or renderer engines.
