Serializable worker and edge task manifests for Frontier apps.

frontier-worker turns background work into data: queue/task descriptors, idempotency keys, retry and timeout policy, declared reads/writes/effects, expected patch outputs, produced assets, logs, trace ids, dedupe indexes, execution records, timelines, registry graph output, and proof hashes. It is not a queue server and it does not import scheduler, event-log, workflow, trace, effects, storage, or provider SDKs. Those systems attach through structural adapters.

createWorkerManifest, defineWorkerTask, compileWorker, validateWorkerManifest, and queryWorkerManifest describe the task surface.
planWorkerTask and planWorkerTaskAsync answer whether a task can run now, including capability, policy, retry, timeout, and dedupe context.
recordWorkerResult, createWorkerRecord, createWorkerSession, createWorkerTimeline, and createWorkerDedupeIndex normalize what workers and edge functions produce.
createWorkerRegistryGraph and traceWorkerImpact answer which background jobs touch a feature, queue, resource, effect, path, package, tag, or source file.
encodeWorkerJsonl, decodeWorkerJsonl, redactWorkerManifest, and createWorkerProof support replay, trace export, redaction, and audit evidence.

Runtime Bridges

Provider integrations should stay structural. A BullMQ, Graphile Worker, Cloudflare Workers, Temporal, Inngest, or serverless adapter can translate its native job object into a FrontierWorkerTask and publish FrontierWorkerRecord output without making this package import those runtimes.

The distinction from @shapeshift-labs/frontier-scheduler is scope: scheduler coordinates in-process work and frame/lane pressure; worker describes durable or distributed work that may run in a queue, edge isolate, background worker, serverless function, or external runtime.

Benchmarks

Run the package-local benchmark:

The benchmark writes benchmarks/results/frontier-worker-package-bench-latest.json when run from the monorepo. These are Frontier-only package measurements for manifest creation, compilation, planning, records, dedupe indexing, impact tracing, graph output, JSONL, and proof hashing.
