Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@sharky-org/sdk

v0.8.0

Published

Official Sharky client SDK — consume catalog, blog, taxonomy, contacts and site metadata from any site.

Readme

@sharky/sdk

Official client SDK for the Sharky platform. One small, dependency-free client to consume everything a published site needs — catalog (portfolio/products), blog posts, categories & tags, site metadata and contact capture.

npm install @sharky/sdk

Quick start

import { Sharky } from "@sharky/sdk";

const sharky = new Sharky("project-token");

// Catalog / portfolio
const catalog = await sharky.listCatalog({ q: "app" });
const item = await sharky.getCatalog("itemId");

// Taxonomy
const categories = await sharky.listCategories();
const tags = await sharky.listTags();

// Blog
const posts = await sharky.listPosts();
const post = await sharky.getPost("postId");

// Site metadata (SEO / theme / socials)
const meta = await sharky.getMeta();

// Contact capture
await sharky.submitContact({
  name: "Ana",
  email: "[email protected]",
  message: "I'd like a quote.",
  extraFields: [{ key: "Company", value: "Acme" }],
});

Configuration

new Sharky("project-token", {
  apiUrl: "https://sharky-backoffice-api.fly.dev", // default
  fetch: customFetch,   // optional (SSR / Node < 18)
  timeoutMs: 8000,      // optional per-request timeout
});

The client only calls Sharky's public endpoints, so it is safe in the browser. The project-token is your Sharky project identifier.

API

| Method | Returns | Endpoint | |---|---|---| | listCatalog(filters?) | SharkyItem[] | GET /catalog/public/:token?type=CATALOG | | getCatalog(itemId) | SharkyItem | GET /catalog/public/:token/:itemId | | listPosts(filters?) | SharkyItem[] | GET /catalog/public/:token?type=POST | | getPost(itemId) | SharkyItem | GET /catalog/public/:token/:itemId | | listCategories() | SharkyField[] | GET /field/public/:token?type=CATEGORY | | listTags() | SharkyField[] | GET /field/public/:token?type=TAG | | getMeta() | SharkyMeta | GET /projects/public/:token/meta | | submitContact(input) | void | POST /contacts/:token |

filters: { q?, categories?: string[], tags?: string[], take?, skip? }.

Errors

Every failure throws a SharkyError with status and body when available:

import { SharkyError } from "@sharky/sdk";

try {
  await sharky.getCatalog("missing");
} catch (err) {
  if (err instanceof SharkyError) console.error(err.status, err.message);
}

Meta example (Next.js)

export async function generateMetadata() {
  const meta = await new Sharky(process.env.SHARKY_TOKEN!).getMeta();
  return { title: meta.name, description: meta.description ?? undefined };
}
