Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

SheetGrid — Excel-class React data grid: virtualized, customizable, responsive

Readme

@sheetgrid/react

Excel-class React data grid — virtualized rows & columns, object or 2D data, edit, validation, clipboard, groups, sort, built-in cell types, opt-in formulas.

Bring-your-own table: useVirtualWindow virtualizes an existing scroll parent and row markup without wrappers or CSS transforms (popup-safe). Works with object rows or 2D JSON (data[r][c]). See recipe 11.

Install

pnpm add @sheetgrid/react
# npm i @sheetgrid/react

Peers: react, react-dom ≥ 18.2 (React 19 supported).

Transitive: @sheetgrid/core, @sheetgrid/tokens (tokens auto-inject on first render).

Try live in StackBlitzstackblitz.com/github/pkdadson/sheetgrid/tree/main/starters/react-vite — no install needed, opens a Vite + React 18 project with @sheetgrid/react@^0.2.0 from npm.

Quickstart

import { Grid } from "@sheetgrid/react";

export function App() {
  return (
    <div style={{ height: 400 }}>
      <Grid
        rows={[
          { id: "1", name: "Ada", age: 36 },
          { id: "2", name: "Grace", age: 40 },
        ]}
        columns={[
          { id: "name", header: "Name" },
          { id: "age", header: "Age", type: "number" },
        ]}
      />
    </div>
  );
}

Matrix mode:

<Grid
  data={[
    ["Name", "Age"],
    ["Ada", 36],
  ]}
  headerRow
  onDataChange={(next) => console.log(next)}
  style={{ height: 400 }}
/>

Agent controller (optional)

Install @sheetgrid/agent to give an in-app agent structured access to the grid:

import { Grid, useGridController } from "@sheetgrid/react";

function App() {
  const controller = useGridController();
  return (
    <Grid
      controller={controller}
      rows={rows}
      columns={columns}
    />
  );
}

The controller exposes getSchema, getData, setCell, setCells, addRow, undo, snapshot, and more — see @sheetgrid/agent README.

Chat UI with <AgentChat>

import { AgentChat, useGridController, Grid } from "@sheetgrid/react";

const controller = useGridController();

<AgentChat
  controller={controller}
  send={async ({ messages, tools, systemPrompt, signal }) => {
    // Call your LLM (Anthropic, OpenAI, Vercel AI, or your backend).
    // Return { content: [{ type: 'text' | 'tool_use' }], stop_reason }.
  }}
/>

See @sheetgrid/agent README for full API + SDK adapters.
