Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@sidurijs/mouth

v1.0.1

Published

Mouth organ for multi-channel communication delivery, medium formatting (web, CLI, desktop, mobile, stream), and speech coordination

Readme

@sidurijs/mouth

Output communication and presentation decoupling organ in the Siduri cognitive architecture.

Overview

The Mouth organ decouples Siduri's cognitive decisions (Brain) from downstream presentation layers (UI).

Rather than having Brain emit UI-specific widgets or tightly coupling reasoning to transport protocols, Brain emits pure cognitive plans and utterances. Mouth adapts these utterances for the active presentation medium (web), generates phonetic viseme cues for Live2D avatar lip-sync, synthesizes SSML with emotional prosody modulation, coordinates speech playback with Voice, handles real-time token streaming, and manages channel sinks.

Dataflow

Brain → Staged Response → Mouth → Formatted Output / Stream → Web UI / Channels
                            │
                      ┌─────┴──────┐
                      ↓            ↓
                  VoiceOrgan  Live2D Visemes

Features

  • Strict Medium Typing: Focused strictly on the web presentation medium.
  • Lip-Sync & Viseme Alignment: Computes syllable- and vowel-aligned MouthVisemeCue (timeMs, durationMs, mouthOpenY, mouthForm, phoneme) compatible with Live2D parameter systems (ParamMouthOpenY, ParamMouthForm).
  • SSML Prosody Formatting: Synthesizes W3C SSML (<speak><prosody>) with XML escaping and pitch/rate modulation tailored to companion emotional expressions (e.g. excited, happy, sad, thinking, surprised).
  • Real-Time Token Streaming: Provides stream(utterance) yielding MouthStreamChunk items with per-chunk delta text, visemes, and expressions.
  • Barge-In & Interruption Handling: Direct cancellation support via mouth.interrupt() and standard AbortSignal propagation.
  • Concrete Channel Sinks:
    • BufferedMouthChannel: In-memory bounded sink tracking deliveries, streams, and interruptions for diagnostics or batch consumption.
    • EventEmitterMouthChannel: Event-driven sink emitting output, chunk, complete, and interrupted events.
  • ExperienceAdapter Integration: Implements the ExperienceAdapter contract to ingest approved caption events from ExperienceDispatcher.

Core Interface

import {
  DefaultMouthOrgan,
  BufferedMouthChannel,
  EventEmitterMouthChannel,
} from '@sidurijs/mouth';

const mouth = new DefaultMouthOrgan({
  voice: voiceOrganInstance, // optional VoiceOrgan coordination
});

// Format an utterance
const output = mouth.format({
  utteranceId: 'utt-1',
  companionId: 'siduri',
  text: 'こんにちは!',
  expression: 'happy',
});

// Real-time streaming
for await (const chunk of mouth.stream(utterance)) {
  console.log(chunk.deltaText, chunk.visemes);
}

// Barge-in interruption
mouth.interrupt('user_barge_in');
