Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

kontent-ai-astro

An integration inspired by Contentful for astro for those using Kontent.ai as their headless CMS and wish to map Content Models to their Astro components.

Installation

Install @simply007org/kontent-ai-astro:

npm install @simply007org/kontent-ai-astro

Add the following code to astro.config.mjs

import { defineConfig } from "astro/config";
import kontentAiAstro from "kontent-ai-astro";

export default defineConfig({
  integrations: [
    kontentAiAstro({
      deliveryClientConfig: {
        environmentId: "ENVIRONMENT_ID",
        previewApiKey: "PREVIEW_API_KEY",
        secureApiKey: "SECURE_API_KEY",
        // https://github.com/kontent-ai/delivery-sdk-js#client-configuration
      },
      components: {
        // add your components here
      },
    }),
  ],
});

Since this integration is using Astro Vite plugins structure is it not possible to pass function hooks from Kontent Delivery SDK configuration - so only value-based properties are applied in Kontent.ai delivery client configuration.

How to set it up

Hopefully you will have created a component for each Content Model you have in Kontent.ai. This configuration allows you to effectively register all your components so that when Kontent.ai is rendering your page it has them all available to use.

Edit the config you added earlier to include each component by name and path (exlcuding the src part of the path):

components: {
  page: "components/Page/Page",
  hero: "components/Hero/Hero"
},

This is just an example structure for a components location, but choose whatever the path is for where you store your components. As long as they exist inside the src folder they will be found.

Once you've registered your components in the astro.config.mjs file, you can use <KontentAiComponent /> that comes with this package, to ensure that all your content will get correctly rendered from Kontent.ai with their correlating component.

The example below shows a potential idea for looping through components and using the <KontentAiComponent /> to render each one.

---
import KontentAiComponent from '@simply007org/kontent-ai-astro/KontentAiComponent.astro';
import { useKontentAiClient } from "@simply007org/kontent-ai-astro";

const deliveryClient = useKontentAiClient();

const response = await deliveryClient
  .types(["page", "hero"]) // depends what you want to fetch and have registered the components for
  .depthParameter(1)
  .toAllPromise();

const items  =  response.data.items;
---

<>
  {items?.map((item) => {
    return <KontentAiComponent type={item.system.type} {...item.elements} />
  })}
</>

Example of the usage is showcased in https://github.com/Simply007/beautiful-team-activity-astro/tree/test-kontent-ai-integration

Wall of fame

Thank you @ajsummerfield for putting together the Contentful integration I can customize.
