Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

Typed Exa search and content retrieval with bounded web_search and web_fetch agent tools.

Install

Register

Export the connector from connectors/ and keep its key in the host environment:

apiKey accepts a string or a sync/async resolver; baseUrl is optional. The connected client exposes search() and getContents(), accepts caller cancellation, and makes single-attempt requests.

Agent tools

Configure the tools and select them on one agent:

The model sees only { query: string } and { url: string }. Credentials, limits, and domain policy remain on the host. Agents that do not select these definitions cannot call them.

Limits

  • Both tools make one provider request with no automatic retry or pacing.
  • Domain policy is enforced against every returned source and, for web_fetch, the requested URL.
  • Filters support exact domains (docs.example.com), wildcard subdomains (*.example.com), and path prefixes (docs.example.com/guides). Wildcards do not match the apex domain, and denied filters take precedence.
  • Fetch URLs cannot contain credentials.
  • Cancellation and timeout bound connector resolution and abort the active request.
  • web_fetch sends one URL with subpages: 0; it does not crawl linked pages.
  • Per-URL crawl failures reported by Exa are surfaced as tool errors.
  • Returned web content is untrusted model input.
