Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@skein-js/console

v0.18.0

The skein console — a self-hosted web UI for a skein-js server: assistants, threads, live runs, interrupts, time travel, store, and crons.

Readme

@skein-js/console

The skein console — a web UI for a running skein server: assistants, threads, live runs, channel wiring and deliveries, interrupts, time travel, the store, and crons.

Served by the server itself, so it is same-origin: no CORS, no second process, no account, and it works with no internet connection.

skein dev # console at http://127.0.0.1:2024/console/
skein dev --no-console # leave it out

In production it is off unless asked for, because it can read and delete every thread, memory and schedule on the server:

{ "http": { "console": true } } // langgraph.json — or a path: "/admin/console"

Full documentation: docs/console.md.

Mounting it in your own server

import { consoleAssetHeaders, resolveConsoleRequest } from "@skein-js/console";

app.use((req, res, next) => {
  if (req.method !== "GET" && req.method !== "HEAD") return next();
  const resolution = resolveConsoleRequest(req.path, { mountPath: "/console" });
  if (resolution.kind === "miss") return next();
  if (resolution.kind === "redirect") return res.redirect(302, resolution.location);
  res.set(consoleAssetHeaders(resolution.asset));
  return res.status(200).send(Buffer.from(resolution.asset.bytes));
});

What is in this package

Compiled bytes and a resolver — nothing else. The UI (React, shadcn/ui, the LangGraph SDK) is built to static files and embedded as string constants, so this package has no runtime dependencies, reads no files at runtime, and bundles cleanly into a consumer's server (see docs/bundling.md).

| Export | What it does | | ------------------------------------------------ | -------------------------------------------------------- | | resolveConsoleRequest(pathname, { mountPath }) | Resolve a request to an asset, a redirect, or a miss. | | resolveConsoleAsset(pathWithinMount, …) | The same, with the mount prefix already stripped. | | consoleAssetHeaders(asset) | Content type, length, cache policy, nosniff. | | normalizeMountPath(path) | Leading slash, no trailing slash, /console when unset. | | consoleAssetFiles() | Every bundled file path. | | CONSOLE_ASSETS_BYTES | Total uncompressed size — pinned by a budget test. |

Working on it

The UI is the console-ui Nx project in ui/:

nx serve console-ui # Vite dev server with HMR (point it at a running skein via ?baseUrl=)
nx build console # build the SPA → compile assets in → bundle the package
nx test console # resolver contract + size budget

src/assets.generated.ts is generated, not committed. build, typecheck and test all depend on the generate-assets target, so it cannot go stale.

The console is a client and holds no server-side state. It uses the Agent Protocol through the official LangGraph SDK, plus two narrow skein operator endpoints for sanitized channel inventory and run-delivery tracking. The Channels tab is read-only; code and langgraph.json stay the source of truth. Delivery destinations are redacted before rendering, and replay requires confirmation.
