Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@skilledrabbit/mcp

CLI connector that wires Skilled Rabbit's learning loop into Claude Code and Claude Cowork, so Finney (your Skilled Rabbit copilot) can see your mission, checkpoints, and progress while you work.

Full install guide with screenshots: https://skilledrabbit.ai/docs/mcp

Quickstart

Three steps. Takes under two minutes.

1. Install

npx -y @skilledrabbit/mcp install

Requires Node 18 or newer (node --version to check; upgrade at https://nodejs.org if needed).

2. Log in

A browser window opens and shows a login code. Paste it, finish the browser flow. Your terminal picks up automatically.

3. Verify

Open Claude Code (or restart it if it's already running) and try:

Hi Finney, which checkpoint am I on?

You should see Finney respond with your current mission. That's it — you're connected.

Troubleshooting

The three most common issues:

"No login found"

You haven't run install yet, or auth.json was deleted. Run install again:

npx -y @skilledrabbit/mcp install

"Login expired"

This can happen after ~30 days of inactivity. Run install again — the flow is quick because you're already logged in on skilledrabbit.ai.

"No enrollments on this account"

You need to enroll in a training before the shim can connect you. Log in at https://skilledrabbit.ai, pick a training (Think › Build › Ship, Cowork Consultant, or Prompt Mastery), and enroll. Then re-run npx @skilledrabbit/mcp install.

More help: https://skilledrabbit.ai/docs/mcp covers every error message, screenshots of each step, and how to get a support diagnostic file.

Disconnect

npx -y @skilledrabbit/mcp uninstall

This removes the 5 hook entries this shim added to your ~/.claude/settings.json (nothing else is touched) and deletes your auth cache at ~/.skilledrabbit/auth.json. Your settings.json is automatically backed up to ~/.claude/settings.json.bak.<timestamp> before modification.

Commands

  • install — one-time setup: log in, pick a training, wire Claude Code.
  • uninstall — cleanly disconnect. Supports --yes to skip the confirmation prompt.
  • switch-training — change which training Finney sees when you have more than one enrollment.
  • hook <type> — internal, invoked by Claude Code automatically. You don't run this by hand.

Debug mode

Stuck? Run install with --debug:

npx -y @skilledrabbit/mcp install --debug

A redacted timeline is written to ~/.skilledrabbit/install.log. Paste that file into a support ticket and we can triage quickly. Credentials (tokens, login codes) are stripped before anything is written.
