Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Drop-in replacement for the PocketBase JS SDK backed by SnackBase

Readme

@snackbase/pocketbase-compat

A drop-in replacement for the pocketbase JS SDK that routes all requests to a SnackBase backend.

The compatibility client is created with new PocketBase(url) and exports both the default PocketBase name and the named PocketBaseCompat class. It delegates storage, authentication, records, and realtime behavior to @snackbase/sdk.

Quick Start

1. Install

npm uninstall pocketbase
npm install @snackbase/pocketbase-compat

2. Update Imports

Replace your pocketbase imports with @snackbase/pocketbase-compat:

-import PocketBase from 'pocketbase';
+import PocketBase from '@snackbase/pocketbase-compat';

const pb = new PocketBase('http://127.0.0.1:8090');

That's it! Your existing PocketBase code now talks to SnackBase.

Support Matrix

Key Differences

  1. Field Names: While we map most common PocketBase fields (id, created, updated), SnackBase may have additional system fields or slightly different behaviors for custom fields.
  2. Batch Operations: Unlike PocketBase's atomic transactions, @snackbase/pocketbase-compat implements batches using Promise.allSettled. This means some operations in a batch may succeed while others fail.
  3. Filtering Syntax: We support a large subset of PocketBase's filter syntax, but complex nested expressions may behave differently.
  4. Collection IDs: SnackBase does not use the same ID format for collections. We provide stable approximations to maintain compatibility.

Known Limitations

  • pb.collections.import() is currently unsupported.
  • pb.backups, pb.crons, pb.settings, and pb.logs are not supported and will throw a NotSupportedError.
  • OAuth2 authWithOAuth2() only supports the direct callback flow; the popup relay mechanism is not implemented.
  • pb.health.check() returns a synthetic healthy response because the SDK has no health endpoint.

Development

# Build the package
pnpm build

# Run unit tests
pnpm test

# Run integration tests (requires live SnackBase at http://localhost:8000)
SNACKBASE_URL=http://localhost:8000 pnpm test:integration

# Type check
pnpm typecheck
