Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Local stdio proxy for forwarding MCP clients to an Issuer MCP HTTP endpoint.

Issuer MCP stdio proxy

This package lets MCP clients that only support stdio connect to your local Issuer MCP server over Streamable HTTP.

The npm package does not contain or deploy the Issuer Java service. It only contains a tiny Node.js stdio-to-HTTP bridge for npx. Your Java service still runs locally and exposes /mcp.

MCP client config

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "issuer": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y",
        "@snn-syy-799/issuer-mcp-stdio",
        "--url",
        "http://127.0.0.1:8080/mcp"
      ],
      "env": {
        "ISSUER_MCP_TOKEN": "Bearer <mcp-token>"
      }
    }
  }
}

For local development:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "issuer-local": {
      "command": "node",
      "args": [
        "/absolute/path/to/issuer/mcp-stdio-proxy/bin/issuer-mcp-stdio.js",
        "--url",
        "http://127.0.0.1:8080/mcp"
      ],
      "env": {
        "ISSUER_MCP_TOKEN": "Bearer <mcp-token>"
      }
    }
  }
}

Publish

cd mcp-stdio-proxy
npm install
npm publish --access public

If you publish to a private company registry, set the registry before publishing:

npm publish --registry https://registry.example.com

Runtime options

npx -y @snn-syy-799/issuer-mcp-stdio --url http://127.0.0.1:8080/mcp --token 'Bearer <mcp-token>'

Supported environment variables:

  • ISSUER_MCP_URL, default http://127.0.0.1:8080/mcp
  • ISSUER_MCP_TOKEN
  • ISSUER_MCP_AGENT_RUN_ID, optional; defaults to a generated UUID and is forwarded as X-Agent-Run-Id

ISSUER_MCP_TOKEN and --token both accept either the raw token or Bearer <token>. The proxy adds Bearer automatically when it is missing.

Use -H "Header: value" when extra gateway headers are required.

Why not curl?

stdio MCP needs a long-running process that reads JSON-RPC from stdin and writes JSON-RPC to stdout. curl makes one HTTP request and exits, so it cannot be the stdio MCP server by itself. Use npx @snn-syy-799/issuer-mcp-stdio in the stdio command instead.
