Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v1.6.0

Published

Shared foundation for kashi apps: Hono app factory with request ids and error envelope, ApiError, WebCrypto helpers, PBKDF2 passwords, sortable ids, phone normalisation, LIKE escaping, D1 rate limiting, and a fetch client with shared session refresh.

Readme

@softwareseva/core

The foundation every kashi app shares: a Hono app factory with the error envelope, an API client that unwraps it, and the small utilities (ids, crypto, rate limiting) the other packages build on. Flutter apps get the same ids and envelope handling from kashi_core.

Install

pnpm add @softwareseva/core hono zod

What's inside

  • @softwareseva/core/server (Hono on Cloudflare Workers + D1): createApp() wires request ids, security headers, CORS, and the error envelope onto a Hono app; ok() / ApiError for responses; WebCrypto helpers and PBKDF2 password hashing; newId() (time-sortable ids); normalizePhone(); LIKE-escaping helpers; a D1-backed rateLimit(); parseEnv() for validating Worker bindings.
  • @softwareseva/core/contracts: the { data } success shape and { code, message, requestId, fields? } error shape, plus the standard error codes every kashi package returns.
  • @softwareseva/core/client (browser, React Native, Node): createApiClient() — unwraps the envelope, throws typed ApiError, and shares one in-flight session refresh across concurrent 401s so a page full of requests doesn't trigger a refresh storm.
  • @softwareseva/core/react: useApiQuery / useApiMutation, thin TanStack Query wrappers typed to ApiError, plus a QueryClient preconfigured to skip retrying requests that already went through the client's refresh-and-retry.
  • kashi_core (pub.dev, Flutter): the same ids and envelope handling — KashiApiClient on Dio with single-flight refresh, typed KashiFailure, go_router redirect integration. See the flutter-api-client skill.

Example

import { createApp, ok, ApiError } from "@softwareseva/core/server";

const app = createApp<AppEnv>({ origins: (env) => [env.WEB_ORIGIN] });
app.get("/v1/ping", (c) => ok(c, { pong: true }));
export default app;

Migrations

Ships migrations/core_0001_rate_limits.sql (needed only if you use rateLimit()). Copy it into your migrations directory with npx @softwareseva/cli migrate. No secrets required.
