Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

CLI tool for building and deploying games with authentication

Readme

something.fun

software is content

games are the new memes. when something happens in the world, you can now make a game about it. deploy interactive experiences as easily as posting a gif.

oh, and every game gets its own meme coin. people can trade it. you get fees. because why not.

why games as content

static memes are great, but what if your reaction could be interactive. what if instead of just sharing an image about the latest drama, you made a little game about it. what if your hot take was playable.

software used to take weeks to deploy. now it takes 30 seconds. games can be as immediate as tweets, as shareable as tiktoks, as timely as news.

what you can build

make something fun about anything:

  • that wild news story that just dropped
  • your friend's terrible dating choices
  • whatever everyone's arguing about online
  • inside jokes that need to be experienced
  • reactions to events as they unfold
  • throwaway ideas that deserve to exist

literally anything can become something fun.

quick start

npm install -g @something-fun/cli
cd your-game
sf login
sf deploy

your game gets a url instantly. share it everywhere.

examples

# made something fun about the latest tech drama
cd tech-drama-simulator
sf deploy

# friend sent a ridiculous text, made something fun
cd text-message-adventure
sf deploy

# news got weird, made something fun about it
cd breaking-news-game
sf deploy

every game gets a live url you can share immediately. no waiting, no setup, no friction between idea and reality.

also every game gets a meme coin. your game about that news story. now people can buy the coin. weird but fun.

how it works

point the cli at any web project and deploy:

  • works with vite projects (react, vue, vanilla js)
  • works with next.js static exports
  • auto-detects your setup
  • builds and deploys in one command

you focus on creating something fun, we handle getting it online.

the stack

your game runs on a global cdn. it loads fast everywhere. you don't think about servers or scaling or any of that. you just make stuff and put it online.

commands

  • sf login - connect your account
  • sf deploy - put your game online
  • sf list - see everything you've made
  • sf build - test locally first

philosophy

the internet is more fun when people can make interactive things as easily as they make posts. games don't have to be big productions. they can be quick reactions, dumb jokes, clever commentary.

make something. make it fun. put it online. see what happens.

get started

npm install -g @something-fun/cli
sf login
sf deploy

make something. deploy something. play something fun.
