Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

OpenAI (Custom) Activepieces Piece (openai-custom)

An Activepieces piece for OpenAI with Custom API Base URL support. This piece allows you to connect not only to OpenAI's official API, but also to any OpenAI-compatible self-hosted or proxy endpoints (such as Ollama, OpenRouter, vLLM, LiteLLM, LM Studio, Groq, FastChat, and Azure OpenAI proxies).

Features

  • Custom Base URL Support: Specify any custom endpoint (e.g. http://localhost:11434/v1, https://openrouter.ai/api/v1, or your private corporate proxy). Defaults to https://api.openai.com/v1.

Installation in Activepieces

  1. Go to your Activepieces dashboard.
  2. Navigate to Pieces > Install Piece.
  3. Enter openai-custom (or your npm package name) and the version.

Authentication

When configuring the piece connection in Activepieces:

  • API Key (Required): Your OpenAI API key or compatible service key (e.g. sk-... or ollama).
  • Base URL (Optional): The base URL for the API endpoint (defaults to https://api.openai.com/v1).
