Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@sparkelf/dsh-client-ui-diagram-viewer

v0.2.1-alpha.28

Published

Renders draw.io and XMind files in the dsh-better-sidebar file viewer.

Readme

@sparkelf/dsh-client-ui-diagram-viewer

Renders .drawio and .xmind files inside the dsh-better-sidebar file viewer instead of showing the raw XML or a download card.

What it does

Registers two file viewers on the betterSidebar registry service:

| Viewer id | Extensions | Source | |---|---|---| | diagram-viewer:drawio | drawio, dio | <mxfile> XML, parsed into boxes and routed links | | diagram-viewer:xmind | xmind | the content.json member of the XMind zip |

Both render an inline SVG: one rounded box per topic, straight links between parent and child.

Install

dsh plugin --profile dataops-web add @sparkelf/dsh-client-ui-diagram-viewer

The bundle patch inserts one entry (diagram-viewer) whose name resolves this package through the profile's node_modules.

Why the registration looks the way it does

Three properties are required by dsh-better-sidebar and are easy to get wrong:

  1. The entry declares inject = ["betterSidebar"]. The sidebar's client half activates after the plugin entries, so reading ctx.get('betterSidebar') inside apply finds nothing and the viewer silently never registers. Cordis waits for the service when the entry injects it.
  2. detect is mandatory. When a file's bytes look binary the sidebar re-runs the matcher against the sniffed head instead of trusting the extension, and skips any viewer without a matcher. XMind is a zip, so without detect the tab falls through to the download card.
  3. load receives base64 for binary files, text otherwise. Decoding the base64 inside the reader would run the archive bytes through UTF-8 and corrupt them before readXmind could inflate the member.

XMind formats

The content.json member is a list of sheets. XMind 2021+ wraps the map in rootTopic; the legacy writer serialises the sheet itself as the root topic. Both are handled.
