Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

commit-msg

A Pi extension that adds the following command:

/gen-commit-msg

It reads staged Git changes (git diff --cached) and asks the assistant to generate an English commit message. Once the result is generated, it offers to copy it to the clipboard.

Assistant constraints:

  • at most 5 lines;
  • the first line summarizes all changes;
  • output is limited to the commit message, with no Markdown or explanation.

Usage

Try it temporarily:

pi -e ./commit-msg

Install it in a project using auto-discovery:

mkdir -p .pi/extensions
cp -R commit-msg .pi/extensions/
pi

Then run:

/gen-commit-msg

Pi Web

When @spikat/pi-web is loaded in the same Pi process, /gen-commit-msg can also be invoked from the local dashboard. Its generated response streams into the live web transcript.
