Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Dependency injection and module system at the core of SpineJS.

Readme

@spinejs/core

Module system, DI container, and lifecycle orchestrator for SpineJS.

Quick start

An app is a graph of modules booted by App. Start from the entry point, then the module, then the service it injects.

// main.ts
import { App } from "@spinejs/core";
import { AppModule } from "./app.module";

const app = new App([AppModule]);
await app.init();
await app.start();
// SIGINT/SIGTERM → onStop() in reverse order → process.exit(0)
// app.module.ts
import { Module, OnInit } from "@spinejs/core";
import { GreetingService } from "./greeting.service";

@Module({ providers: [GreetingService], inject: [GreetingService] })
export class AppModule implements OnInit {
  constructor(private readonly greeting: GreetingService) {}

  async onInit() {
    console.log(this.greeting.hello());
  }
}
// greeting.service.ts
import { Injectable } from "@spinejs/core";

@Injectable()
export class GreetingService {
  hello() {
    return "Hello, world!";
  }
}

@Injectable({ inject: [...] }) on a class (or inject on a @Module) is type-checked: the tokens' resolved types must line up with the constructor parameters, in order.

Injecting the logger

The active logger is registered under loggerToken (as is App under appToken):

import { Module, Logger, loggerToken } from "@spinejs/core";

@Module({ inject: [loggerToken] })
export class MyModule {
  constructor(private readonly logger: Logger) {}

  async onInit() {
    this.logger.info("ready", MyModule.name);
  }
}

Type the field as Logger (the interface) so it works with any implementation (built-in AppLogger or @spinejs/winston-logger).

Reference

AppOptions

| Option | Type | Default | Description | | ------------------- | --------------- | ----------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | logger | Logger | AppLogger | Custom logger (e.g. WinstonLogger). | | loggerOptions | LoggerOptions | {} | Built-in logger options (level). | | handleProcessExit | boolean | true | Register SIGINT/SIGTERM handlers. Pass false in Electron (use ElectronModule instead). | | shutdownTimeout | number | 5000 | Max ms for the shutdown sequence before exit() force-exits the process; 0 waits indefinitely. |

Lifecycle hooks

| Interface | Method | When | | --------- | ----------- | ------------------------------------------------------- | | OnInit | onInit() | After all modules in the dependency graph are resolved. | | OnStart | onStart() | After app.init() completes. | | OnStop | onStop() | In reverse init order, on shutdown. |

Provider shapes

// Class (shorthand)
providers: [MyService]

// Factory
{ provide: myToken, inject: [DepA], factory: (dep: DepA) => new MyService(dep) }

// Value
{ provide: versionToken, value: "1.0.0" }

// Delegate (lazy thunk)
{ provide: myToken, delegate: () => externalContainer.get(myToken) }

// Existing (alias — same cached instance)
{ provide: aliasToken, existing: MyService }
