Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@spoar/devtools

v0.1.0

Published

An overlay panel for admins on their own site: live visitors, sessions, logs, speed and errors from Spoar analytics.

Readme

@spoar/devtools

An overlay panel for admins on their own site, showing what Spoar analytics sees right now: online visitors, sessions, a log stream with JSON detail, speed per route, error groups and an overview.

It is a separate package from @spoar/sdk, so the SDK keeps its size budgets and the widget releases on its own.

  • Visitors never download it. Each entry renders a loader under 1 KB gzip that calls GET /v2/widget/session and imports the panel only on a 200.
  • Renders in a Shadow DOM root with Tailwind compiled at build time, so host CSS and widget CSS never meet.
  • Six buffers on keys 1 to 6, a key:value filter prompt per buffer, j and k to move, Enter to expand.
  • Docks to the bottom or floats, resizes, and remembers its layout per origin.
  • Shows the SDK's dropped events and errors as they happen when you pass your SDK client.

The dev widget page covers the entries, options, widgetReports and the keyboard map.

Install

npm install @spoar/devtools
import { Devtools } from "@spoar/devtools/next";

<Devtools endpoint="https://api.analytics.remcostoeten.nl" project="remcostoeten.nl" />;

For work without an API, @spoar/devtools/fixtures serves sample data for every route: pass fetch: fixtureFetch().

Development

| Command | Does | | --- | --- | | bun run build | tsdown into dist/: the loaders, the lazy panel chunk (with React bundled for mount), and the fixtures | | bun run styles | Recompiles src/styles/panel.css with Tailwind into src/styles/compiled.ts; a test fails while it is stale | | bun test | Filter parser, JSON tree, stores, client token refresh, streams and runtime against memory transports | | bun run size (repo root) | Fails when a loader is over 1 KB gzip and reports the panel chunk | | bun run test:e2e (repo root) | Opens the panel as an admin and checks a signed-out page loads nothing past the loader |
