Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@starci/object-storage

v0.1.0

Object storage for a StarCi back end in one package: a NestJS module and a port over S3-compatible storage (MinIO in lite) with presigned PUT and GET that sign the content type and size, head, get, put, list, batched delete, bucket setup, size and content

@starci/object-storage

Object storage of a StarCi back end over S3-compatible storage (MinIO in lite): one package, two entries.

| entry | holds | |---|---| | @starci/object-storage | ObjectStorageModule (register / registerAsync), the ObjectStorage port under OBJECT_STORAGE, createObjectStorage for plain Node, the coded ObjectStorageError | | @starci/object-storage/testing | createMemoryObjectStorage (the real checks over memory), objectStorageTestingModule, FakeStorageClock |

The package owns @aws-sdk/client-s3 and @aws-sdk/s3-request-presigner; an app imports neither (the lint refuses them) and reaches the package only through integrations/object-storage.

ObjectStorageModule.registerAsync({
    isGlobal: true,
    useFactory: () => parsedOptions, // parsed in the app (BE-CONFIG-2); the package reads no environment
})

const put = await storage.presignPut("media", `users/${id}/avatar.png`, { contentType: "image/png", contentLength: 48_211 })
// put.url, put.headers (Content-Type, Content-Length), put.expiresAt
await storage.confirmUpload("media", key) // head + the limits, after the browser says it is done

The app keeps the bucket names, the key layout of each domain and the parsing of its settings. A call validates its bucket and key; a missing object answers null from head and get; every other failure rejects with an ObjectStorageError whose code is stable and whose kind is invalid, not-found or unavailable.

publicEndpoint is the origin browsers reach; presigned requests are signed for it while the back end calls endpoint. limits (maxBytes, contentTypes) apply to every upload unless a call names its own; while a size limit is in force presignPut requires contentLength, which the signature fixes.

Tests

npm test typechecks, lints and runs the node:test specs (a local S3 for the AWS transport, the service over memory) under 90% line coverage.
