Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

React component wrappers for Stencil web components

Readme

The Stencil React Output Target simplifies the process for Stencil web component library creators by automatically generating React component wrappers for Stencil components. With this package, Stencil component authors can ensure type safety, while also enjoying the familiarity of React-style syntax for their components and APIs. This solution leverages the @lit/react package to streamline the process, making it easier than ever to create Stencil components that integrate seamlessly with React applications.

Installation

npm install @stencil-community/react-output-target --save-dev

Usage

Add the output target to your Stencil config

import { Config } from '@stencil/core';
import { reactOutputTarget } from '@stencil-community/react-output-target';

export const config: Config = {
  namespace: 'mycomponentlibrary',
  outputTargets: [
    {
      type: 'dist-custom-elements',
    },
    reactOutputTarget({
      outputPath: '../react-demo/src/components/react-components.ts',
    }),
  ],
};

The react output target requires the dist-custom-elements output target to be configured as well. This is required to generate tree-shakable components.

Install the @lit/react package in your React app

The generated React components depend on the @lit/react package.

npm install @lit/react --save

Install the Stencil library in your React app or library

The React application should have a dependency to your Stencil library. This can be done with a variety approaches, including installing the npm package from the registry, symbolic linking, or using a tool like pnpm workspaces.

Use the React components in your React app or library

import { MyComponent } from './components/react-components';

export const App = () => {
  return (
    <div>
      <MyComponent
        first="Stencil"
        last="'Don't call me a framework' JS"
      ></MyComponent>
    </div>
  );
};
