Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Stratum CLI — project scaffolding, database migration, and developer tools

Readme

@stratum-hq/cli

Command-line tool for integrating Stratum into existing projects — detects your framework, generates boilerplate, checks database readiness, and migrates tables to tenant isolation.

Installation

npm install -g @stratum-hq/cli

# Or run without installing:
npx @stratum-hq/cli <command>

Commands

stratum init

Interactive setup wizard. Detects your framework and ORM from package.json, asks whether you want the direct library (@stratum-hq/lib) or the HTTP API + SDK (@stratum-hq/sdk), then generates config, middleware/plugin, database setup, and a .env template. Generates React provider, guards, and hooks when React is detected.

stratum health

Validate that your database is ready for Stratum:

stratum health --database-url postgres://user:pass@host:5432/mydb

Checks connectivity, PostgreSQL version, the uuid-ossp and ltree extensions, BYPASSRLS privilege, the Stratum schema, and RLS status on your tables.

stratum migrate

Add tenant isolation to existing tables:

stratum migrate --scan # show RLS status for all tables
stratum migrate orders # migrate a single table
stratum migrate --all # migrate all unmigrated tables interactively

Each migration adds a tenant_id UUID NOT NULL column, enables FORCE ROW LEVEL SECURITY, creates a tenant_isolation policy, and indexes tenant_id.

stratum generate api-key

stratum generate api-key --name "web-app" --tenant <tenant-uuid>

The plaintext key is printed once and never stored.

stratum scaffold

Generate framework-specific integration code without the full wizard:

stratum scaffold express # SDK middleware + example routes
stratum scaffold fastify # SDK plugin
stratum scaffold nextjs # edge middleware + server helpers + layout
stratum scaffold react # provider + guards + hooks
stratum scaffold prisma # tenant-scoped Prisma client
stratum scaffold docker # Docker Compose for Stratum + PostgreSQL
stratum scaffold env # .env template with all variables

Global Options

| Flag | Description | |------|-------------| | --database-url, -d | PostgreSQL connection string | | --name | Name for a generated API key | | --tenant | Tenant ID for a generated API key | | --out | Output directory for scaffolded files | | --force | Overwrite existing files |
