Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

CLI tool for Storing — cloud image optimization. Automatically classify, compress, and deliver optimized assets from your S3 and GCS buckets.

Install

npm install -g @supertype.ai/storing

Requires Node.js 18+.

Quick Start

# Create an account at https://use.storing.app, then:
storing login --email [email protected] --password yourpassword

# Compress a single file
storing compress image.png

# Specify format and profile
storing compress image.png --format avif --profile aggressive

# Compress a directory
storing compress ./images/ --recursive

# Audit a bucket (project savings without modifying files)
storing audit s3://my-bucket

# Optimize an entire bucket
storing optimize s3://my-bucket --format avif --profile balanced

Commands

Compression Options

Classification

Every image is classified into one of three tiers, each with optimized compression settings:

  • Icon (≤512px) — favicons, sprites, thumbnails
  • Standard (513–1919px) — product images, content photos
  • Hero (≥1920px) — banners, backgrounds, full-width images
