Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Published

Accessible Svelte 5 UI component library built on Bits UI — buttons, forms, tables, dialogs, menus, and more, with a themeable CSS layer system.

Readme

@sveltebuilder/coreui

Universal UI component library for SvelteBuilder, built on Bits UI primitives. Components are split into two kinds:

  • Application-level UI (Button, Input, Card, layout chrome) — i18n-agnostic, plain label: string props, no dependency on @sveltebuilder/hermes.
  • Entity/domain UI (LocalTextLinkEdit, admin editors) — imports @sveltebuilder/hermes and resolves localized copy from an entity id.

Install

npm install @sveltebuilder/coreui @sveltebuilder/hermes bits-ui

Requires Svelte 5.

Styles

coreui ships stylesheets but never self-applies them — your app imports them into its own CSS cascade layers:

@layer reset, tokens, base, chrome, components, utilities;

@import '@sveltebuilder/coreui/styles/tokens.css'; /* not layered — tokens are a base */
@import '@sveltebuilder/coreui/styles/base.css' layer(base);
@import '@sveltebuilder/coreui/styles/components.css' layer(components);

/* your overrides below — unlayered CSS always wins */

Unlayered CSS beats every @layer block regardless of specificity, so anything you write in your own app CSS overrides coreui without !important or specificity fights.

Dark mode and theme variants are driven by a data-color-scheme attribute ("dark" | "light") on <html> — omit it to follow prefers-color-scheme.

Components

import { Button, Card, Input, Select, Table, DataTable, /* ...and more */ } from '@sveltebuilder/coreui';
  • Layout & display: Card, Divider
  • Typography & decoration: Badge, Tag, Avatar
  • Feedback & status: Alert, ProgressBar, Skeleton, Spinner
  • Messaging: messageBus, Toast, ToastRegion, InlineNotification, Banner, ConfirmDialog, MessageAriaLive
  • Forms: Field, Label, Input, Textarea, Checkbox, RadioGroup/RadioItem, Switch, Select/SelectItem, BarcodeInput, DateTimePicker, useField
  • Actions: Button
  • Overlay: Dialog, Popover, Tooltip, Drawer
  • Menus: Menu and related sub-components
  • Navigation: LocaleSwitcher, Pagination
  • Data display: MetricCard, Timeline, StatusBadge, Table/DataTable
  • Editing: BlockEditor
  • LocalText admin: LocaleEdit, LocalTextLinkEdit, LocalTextEdit

All interactive state (open/closed, checked, disabled, highlighted) is exposed via Bits UI data-* attributes, so component behavior stays consistent even if you write custom CSS against it.

Part of the SvelteBuilder ecosystem

coreui is the shared UI foundation every SvelteBuilder domain module builds on — domain modules never reach past coreui to Bits UI directly. See the SvelteBuilder README for the full architecture.
