Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v0.2.1

Published

Framework-agnostic document viewer with package-owned document decoding, metadata overlays, selection, search, and thumbnails.

Readme

Aurora Lens

Aurora Lens is a framework-agnostic document viewer from Tabularium AI. It decodes supported documents, renders normalized raster pages, overlays Tabularium AI metadata, supports selection, copy, search, zoom, and thumbnails, and stores decoded pages for fast navigation.

Aurora, the proprietary Tabularium AI runtime, is not included in this package.

Install

npm install @tabulariumai/aurora-lens

Usage

import { useRef } from "react";
import { ReactViewer } from "@tabulariumai/aurora-lens/react";
import type { AuroraLens } from "@tabulariumai/aurora-lens";

export function Viewer() {
  const lensRef = useRef<AuroraLens | null>(null);

  return (
    <ReactViewer
      ref={lensRef}
      allowEdit={true}
      onError={(error) => console.error(error)}
    />
  );
}

Document Decoding

The package owns document detection and decoding through decodeDoc(file, { page, viewMode }). Supported input formats are TIFF/TIF, PDF, PNG, and JPG/JPEG.

Viewer Config

The package owns viewer configuration through readViewerConfig() and saveViewerConfig(config). The config includes accepted page formats, tolerance, view raster settings, and export raster settings. Current viewing uses the view raster settings; export settings are stored separately for export workflows.

Metadata

Aurora Lens can render Tabularium AI metadata when the host application calls loadMetadata(metadata) before or after decoding a page. Metadata is document-scoped and remains loaded on the lens instance until the host calls clear() or replaces it with another loadMetadata() call.

When switching to a document that does not have matching metadata, call clear() before decodeDoc() so metadata from the previous document cannot be reused by page index.

await lensRef.current?.loadMetadata(metadata);
await lensRef.current?.decodeDoc(fileWithMetadata, { page: 0, viewMode: "page" });

lensRef.current?.clear();
await lensRef.current?.decodeDoc(fileWithoutMetadata, { page: 0, viewMode: "page" });

See docs/metadata-schema.md.

Development

npm install
npm test
npm run build
npm pack --dry-run

Public Repository Notes

This package includes the document decoding module used by the viewer.

Generated build output, Playwright reports, test results, and local environment files are ignored by Git. Source, tests, documentation, and package metadata are the public repository surface.
