Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Tari Ootle Wallet JSON-RPC Client

Overview

Client library for interacting with the Tari Ootle Wallet Daemon via JSON-RPC.

Authentication

The daemon accepts two kinds of bearer credential, and which one you can use depends on where your code runs.

Same-origin browser callers — session tokens

A page served by the daemon itself authenticates with auth.request, which returns a short-lived JWT and sets an HttpOnly, SameSite=Strict refresh cookie. With setReauthenticationEnabled(true), an expired JWT is refreshed transparently via auth.refresh.

const client = WalletDaemonClient.usingFetchTransport(WALLET_JRPC_URL);
const token = await client.authRequest(permissions, credentials);
client.setToken(token);

auth.refresh is authorised by the cookie alone — the bearer token is not consulted. Because the cookie is HttpOnly and SameSite=Strict, only a same-origin caller can hold a refreshable session.

Cross-origin callers — API keys

Browser extensions, other hosts, and non-browser tooling cannot obtain the refresh cookie and so cannot hold a session. Authenticate with an API key instead: it is validated against the daemon's api_keys table on every call, with no auth.request round-trip and nothing to refresh.

const client = WalletDaemonClient.usingFetchTransport(WALLET_JRPC_URL);
client.authenticateWithApiKey(apiKey);
client.setReauthenticationEnabled(false);

A 401 from an API key is final — the key is revoked, expired, or lacks the permission the method requires.

Keys are minted with auth.create_api_key, which requires an interactive Admin session; an API key cannot mint further keys. Scope each key to the narrowest permission set that works — a client that only proposes transactions for a human to approve needs TransactionRequests(Create) and not Transfer or Transactions(Create). A client that asks the wallet to co-sign a transaction someone else seals needs SigningRequests(Create); approving a signing request always takes an interactive session.

The daemon only serves cross-origin callers when its CORS configuration permits the origin.

Transport cookie policy

FetchRpcTransport sends cookies according to its credentials option, which defaults to "same-origin":

WalletDaemonClient.usingFetchTransport(url, { credentials: "include" });
