Quotas are small and per plan — Free is 10 calls a month at 5/min, Pro 500 a month at 30/min — so connection validation hits /usage, which costs no search quota. Use Get Usage to see what's left before a flow burns through it.

Actions

Search Papers — keyword and semantic search. Optional filters: Source (arXiv, PubMed, Semantic Scholar), Field of Study (ten documented disciplines), Year, Limit. Results come back under results with title, authors, year, source, field, abstract and URL.

Format defaults to JSON. bibtex returns citation text instead of structured results — good for building a reference list, but a flow that loops over papers wants JSON. The parameter is only sent when you pick bibtex, so the piece doesn't pin a default the docs never promise.

Get Usage — quota and per-minute rate for the current billing period.

No triggers

Two endpoints is the entire documented surface: no paper-fetch, no library write, no webhook. There's nothing to build a trigger on.
