Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Akno — a two-way memory layer for agents over a Markdown knowledge base

Readme

@tenphi/akno

The Akno command-line interface and service.

Akno gives agents cited reading and guarded writing operations over a Markdown knowledge base while the files remain authoritative and editable in any normal editor.

Akno's native indexing, document extraction, socket runtime, and managed background service support macOS and Linux with Node 22.18 or newer. macOS uses PDFKit, Vision, textutil, and launchd; Linux uses external Poppler, Tesseract, and LibreOffice tools plus systemd --user. Missing extraction tools are reported as typed degradation rather than disabling Markdown indexing.

npm install -g @tenphi/akno
akno init
akno index
akno doctor
akno recall "How long is the Zephyr QX-100 warranty?"
akno recall "What is planned for the Zephyr QX-100?" --memory-view planning

akno init offers the qualified OpenAI single-endpoint setup, a model-free lexical setup, or preservation of manually configured specialist roles. Model roles degrade independently, so doctor explains both availability and the consequence of a missing role.

akno doctor reports content-safe Markdown quarantine counts. Add --quarantine-details only in a private local terminal to see the relative paths and stable ids needed for file-based repair.

Main operations

recall / answer / read / list / graph / timeline / context
write / remember / retain / forget / undo / move / folder
ingest / inbox / adopt
dream / plan
migrate / serve / service / doctor / rules / config / bench / redeploy

akno --help and akno <command> --help describe the installed interface. The service exposes the same typed operation registry in process, over an owner-only Unix socket, through HTTP with public read-only loopback and configured bearer identities, and over stdio MCP for agent hosts.

akno timeline reads authored events, retained states/plans/deadlines, and dated document evidence through one clock-relative view. Use --view actionable --order nearest for active or accepted work while the default view keeps cancelled, completed, and superseded history visible.
