Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Thin typed client for a running Akno service — identical interface to @tenphi/akno-core, no native dependencies

Readme

@tenphi/akno-client

A thin typed client for a running Akno service — the same interface as @tenphi/akno-core, with no native dependencies.

It requires Node 22.18 or newer and is portable across operating systems.

That is the point of it. A Linux container can reach another host over the HTTP door, or a local process can reach the Unix socket, and neither one pulls better-sqlite3 into its build. The knowledge base and the index never enter the caller's sandbox, which is also what keeps Akno's single-writer property intact.

import { connect, isTimelineMemory } from '@tenphi/akno-client';

const akno = await connect(); // Uses the platform Akno runtime socket by default.
const result = await akno.call('recall', {
  query: 'What is planned for the Zephyr QX-100?',
  memory_view: 'planning',
});

// A host may conservatively prepare evidence before its own model handles a turn.
const recentTurns = [{ role: 'user' as const, content: 'We were discussing the Zephyr QX-100 warranty.' }];
const context = await akno.context({
  profile: 'auto_recall',
  query: 'When does it end?',
  conversation_context: recentTurns,
  budget: 1200,
});
// `ambiguous` and `unresolved` references deliberately carry no automatic evidence.
const referenceResolution = context.activation?.reference_resolution;

// One explicit clock covers authored events, retained world time, and document evidence.
const timeline = await akno.timeline({
  scope: 'future',
  view: 'actionable',
  timezone: 'Europe/Amsterdam',
  order: 'nearest',
});
const retained = timeline.results.filter(isTimelineMemory);

const exact = await akno.read({ slug: 'products/zephyr-qx-100' });
if (exact.status === 'degraded' && exact.degraded?.includes('source_conflict')) {
  // Repair the Markdown conflict and re-index before treating this page as current evidence.
}

// A stable external source can be retained replay-safely without copying stored source bytes.
await akno.retain({
  sources: [
    {
      source_id: 'manual:1111',
      revision: '1',
      input: { page_slug: 'sources/zephyr-manual' },
      retention: { mode: 'extract' },
    },
  ],
});

// HTTP is public read-only on loopback by default. A configured bearer identity
// grants exactly its server-owned actor and operation set.
const remote = await connect({
  http: 'memory.vulpine.test:7777',
  token: process.env.AKNO_HTTP_AGENT_TOKEN,
});

Schemas and error codes come from @tenphi/akno-protocol, so a call that is invalid here is invalid in-process too, and fails the same way.
