Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Configurable quality checks and maintenance tooling for Terra Symposium repositories

Readme

@terra-symposium/quality

A configurable quality runner for JavaScript and TypeScript repositories. Define source scope, policy, tools, and repository commands in quality.json; run them locally with the terra-quality CLI or in CI.

  • Requires Node.js >=18.18.
  • Published on the public npm registry.
  • Does not install or configure Prettier, ESLint, Knip, TypeScript, or repository commands.

Install

pnpm add -D @terra-symposium/quality

Create quality.json in the repository root:

{
	"$schema": "./node_modules/@terra-symposium/quality/quality.schema.json",
	"sourceRoots": ["src"],
	"extensions": [".js", ".jsx", ".ts", ".tsx"],
	"enabledChecks": {
		"format": false,
		"lint": false,
		"knip": false,
		"dead-code": false
	}
}

This starting configuration uses the built-in checks without requiring external tools. Enable integrations as you install and configure the corresponding repository tools. When lint is enabled, add an ESLint flat config such as eslint.config.mjs.

Run the changed-file pass with safe configured fixes enabled:

pnpm exec terra-quality

For a full, read-only source check:

pnpm exec terra-quality quality --all --warn

The normal scope is changed and untracked files in a Git worktree. --all selects every file under sourceRoots; --warn disables autofixes and runs dead-code analysis once without a temporary fix preview. It reports rule-level fix candidates; fix mode then type-checks proposed dead-code edits before writing and may reject a candidate. Configured quality commands still run unless you pass --skip-commands.

What it does

Terra Quality combines source checks such as documentation, import resolution, naming, forwarding, security, and configured UI-pattern checks with repository-owned tools and commands. Safe transformations can maintain layout, apply tool fixes, and rewrite supported syntax. Findings that require domain or runtime judgment remain for review.

The runner does not prove runtime correctness or security, inspect arbitrary languages, provision services, or decide whether a domain-specific projection is intentional. Review generated changes at API, persistence, authorization, and other behavior boundaries.

Configuration and guides

The installed quality.schema.json provides editor validation. The test README describes the package's isolated test coverage.
