Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

React components for the Tessera design system.

Readme

@tessera-design/react

React components for Tessera, a tile-built design system: 40 typed, accessible components, four themes in light and dark, and motion that lands with a small bounce.

Docs and live examples · Themes · Folio, an app built with it · Source

Install

npm install @tessera-design/react

React 18.2 or newer is a peer dependency. @tessera-design/tokens comes along as a dependency.

Use

import '@tessera-design/react/styles.css'; // design tokens + component styles, one file
import '@tessera-design/react/fonts.css'; // optional: Bricolage Grotesque, Instrument Sans, JetBrains Mono from Google Fonts
import { Button, Card, ThemeProvider, ToastProvider } from '@tessera-design/react';

export function App() {
  return (
    <ThemeProvider storageKey="theme">
      <ToastProvider>
        <Card variant="tile" eyebrow="Most picked" title="Grid" actions={<Button>Use template</Button>}>
          A two-column layout with a skills sidebar.
        </Card>
      </ToastProvider>
    </ThemeProvider>
  );
}

The bundle is ESM and CommonJS with TypeScript types, and starts with "use client", so it works in the Next.js App Router.

Themes

Each theme works in light and dark mode. Load a theme's CSS, then pick it with ThemeProvider:

import '@tessera-design/react/themes/cartridge.css';
import '@tessera-design/react/themes/cartridge-fonts.css';

<ThemeProvider defaultBrand="cartridge" storageKey="theme">…</ThemeProvider>

| Theme | Files | | --- | --- | | Tessera (default) | nothing extra | | Atelier | themes/atelier.css, themes/atelier-fonts.css | | Cartridge | themes/cartridge.css, themes/cartridge-fonts.css | | Polygon | themes/polygon.css, themes/polygon-fonts.css | | Gloop | themes/gloop.css, themes/gloop-fonts.css | | Shonen | themes/shonen.css, themes/shonen-fonts.css | | Jelly | themes/jelly.css, themes/jelly-fonts.css | | Neon | themes/neon.css, themes/neon-fonts.css | | Static | themes/static.css, themes/static-fonts.css | | Lagoon | themes/lagoon.css, themes/lagoon-fonts.css | | Clay | themes/clay.css, themes/clay-fonts.css | | Cutout | themes/cutout.css, themes/cutout-fonts.css |

Dark mode follows the system unless the user picks one; useTheme() reads and changes both the mode and the theme.

Components

Button, DropdownMenu, CommandPalette · TextField, Textarea, Select, Combobox, DatePicker, Calendar, NumberInput, Slider, SegmentedControl, TagInput, FileDropzone, Checkbox, RadioGroup, Switch · Navbar, SidebarNav, Tabs, Breadcrumbs, Pagination, Stepper · Stack, Inline, Grid, Container, Divider, Card, Accordion · Table · Badge, Avatar, Kbd · Alert, Toast, Progress, Skeleton, Spinner, EmptyState · Dialog, Drawer, Popover, Tooltip · ThemeProvider · Mosaic, Icon

Every component has a live example, usage guidelines and a props table in the docs, and runs through axe accessibility checks in the test suite.
