Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

MCP gateway for Tesseron. Bridges WebSocket SDKs to MCP-compatible AI agents over stdio.

Readme

@tesseron/mcp

The Tesseron MCP gateway — a local CLI that bridges @tesseron/web / @tesseron/server apps to any MCP-compatible AI agent (Claude Code, Claude Desktop, Cursor, Copilot, Codex, ...).

Most users don't install this directly. Use the Claude Code plugin — it bundles the gateway and auto-spawns it:

/plugin marketplace add BrainBlend-AI/tesseron
/plugin install tesseron@tesseron

Install @tesseron/mcp directly only when you want to run the gateway standalone (for development, log inspection, or to wire into a non-Claude MCP client).

What it does

  • Listens on ws://127.0.0.1:7475 for Tesseron SDK connections (your app).
  • Speaks MCP over stdio to the agent.
  • Dynamically registers each claimed app's actions as MCP tools.
  • Bridges ctx.sample / ctx.elicit / ctx.progress / resource subscribes between the two protocols.
  • Ships a tesseron__read_resource meta-tool for MCP clients that don't yet speak native resources, plus tesseron__claim_session, tesseron__list_actions, and tesseron__invoke_action for maximum client compat.

Install

npm install -g @tesseron/mcp

Or run on demand without installing:

npx @tesseron/mcp

Run it standalone

tesseron-mcp

Output:

[tesseron] gateway listening on ws://127.0.0.1:7475
[tesseron] MCP stdio bridge ready
[tesseron] new session "My App" (s_...) — claim code: ABCD-XY

Wire it into an MCP client

Claude Code

Edit ~/.claude/settings.json:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "tesseron": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["@tesseron/mcp"]
    }
  }
}

Claude Desktop

Edit claude_desktop_config.json:

  • macOS: ~/Library/Application Support/Claude/claude_desktop_config.json
  • Windows: %APPDATA%\Claude\claude_desktop_config.json
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "tesseron": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": ["@tesseron/mcp"]
    }
  }
}

Same pattern works for Cursor, Codex, VS Code + Copilot, goose, and fast-agent.

Environment variables

| Variable | Default | Purpose | |---|---|---| | TESSERON_PORT | 7475 | WebSocket port for SDK connections. | | TESSERON_HOST | 127.0.0.1 | Bind address. | | TESSERON_ORIGIN_ALLOWLIST | (localhost only) | Comma-separated origin allowlist for non-localhost apps. | | TESSERON_TOOL_SURFACE | both | dynamic | meta | both — how actions are exposed to the agent. dynamic for spec-compliant clients, meta for clients that freeze their tool list, both for maximum compat. |
