Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Bambu Lab printer cameras for Scrypted

scrypted-bambu

Scrypted support for Bambu Lab printer cameras.

printer support

| series | camera | how | | --------------------- | ------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- | | P1P, P1S, A1, A1 mini | chamber image | the printer pushes JPEG frames over TLS on port 6000 at about 1 fps. the plugin keeps that connection open while something is watching, hands the newest frame back as the snapshot, and has the Rebroadcast plugin transcode the frames to H.264 | | X1, X1C, X1E, H2, P2 | rtsp | rtsps://bblp:<access code>@<ip>:322/streaming/live/1, handed to Scrypted as a normal RTSP stream. snapshots come from the Rebroadcast prebuffer |

The RTSP path is written from the published stream URL and has not been tested against real hardware yet. If the stream fails to start, switch the stream's parser to FFmpeg in the camera's Rebroadcast settings and open an issue with the console output.

setup

  1. Put the printer in LAN mode or at least note its IP and the access code from the printer screen (Settings, Network).
  2. In Scrypted, add a device of type Bambu Lab Printer and fill in the IP and access code. Leave Camera on auto unless the printer is a model this plugin does not know, in which case it probes port 322.
  3. Enable the extensions you want on the new camera (HomeKit, NVR). For the light switch to show up on the camera's HomeKit accessory, enable HomeKit on the printer's Chamber Light device as well.

chamber light

Each printer gets a Chamber Light device that switches the printer's chamber light, both of them on H2 and X2 printers. The plugin keeps an MQTT connection to the printer open for the light's state, so switching it from the printer screen or Bambu Studio shows up in Scrypted too.

caveats

A P1S streams to two chamber camera clients at once. Further connections are accepted but get no frames until a slot frees, then the next one in line starts receiving. Bambu Studio, Bambu Handy, the Home Assistant integration's camera, and this plugin each take a slot, and with the prebuffer on this plugin keeps its slot permanently. The plugin logs when it is waiting for one. Measured on a P1S, and a forum report gives the same number for the P1 series, Bambu documents no limit.

development

direnv allow # or nix develop
pnpm install
pnpm lint # oxfmt --check and oxlint, same as ci
pnpm check # tsc
pnpm test # frame parser unit tests
pnpm build # bundle to out/plugin.zip
pnpm fmt # oxfmt

To interface with printers directly:

node tools/identify.mts <ip> <access code> # serial, model, firmware, nozzle
node tools/chamber-probe.mts <ip> <access code> # grabs frames, saves the first to /tmp/chamber-probe.jpg
node tools/stream-check.mts <ip> <access code> # runs the exact ffmpeg pipeline for 12s and reports output fps
