Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@thht_jspsych/sound_threshold

v0.2.0

Published

jsPsych Plugin for sound threshold hunting.

Readme

@thht_jspsych/sound_threshold

jsPsych plugin to get the perceptual threshold of a sound using maximum likelihood threshold hunting according to Green 1993.

This version only works with jsPsych 7.0.0 and later. If you still need to use jsPsych 6.4, please use version 0.0.6.

How to install

The package is on npm:

npm install @thht_jspsych/sound_threshold

How to use

Add necessary css

This plugin uses the Bootstrap. So you need to include the fonts.

Include it in your entry javascript file:

import 'bootstrap/dist/css/bootstrap.css';

Use the plugin

Now you can use it as any other jsPsych plugin:

import { Sine } from "@thht/sounds";
import SoundThresholdPlugin from '@thht_jspsych/sound_threshold';

const probe_sound = Sine(440, 1);

jsPsych.init({
    timeline: [
        {
            type: SoundThresholdPlugin,
            sound: () => probe_sound,
            db_range: [-80, -20],
        },
    ]
});

After the plugin has run, the sound that it used will be at the threshold volume.

The plugin offers the following parameters:

sound

A function returning the sound to be probed. It might sound weird, that this needs to be a function, but it does not work otherwise. Look at the example for the most simple way to do it.

db_range

The range of volume in dB to probe. Defaults to [-120, -20].

delay

The delay from the onset of each probe trial to the onset of the sound in seconds. Defaults to 0.5.

question

The string to present as the question. Defaults to 'Did you hear the sound?'.

yes_response

The string to present as the positive response option. Defaults to 'Yes'.

no_response

The string to present as the negative response option. Defaults to 'No'.
