Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

simple scss snippets-generator

Creates snippets for scss classes which then can be used to envolve your intelllisense in VSCode

This generator will only create vscode snippets for html purposes.

Install the package and run following command snipgen -d <directory> -o <ouputName> or snipgen --directory /apps/code --output test

The output name is optional, if not set the original scss name will be used. If the output is set, the file additionally will get a timestamp to the defined name so that it is unique.

Filename = <filename or custom name>.extension.code-snippets

The file is stored in the same folder as the SCSS file.

The SCSS files should be structured as follows, otherwise the script will not work as expected ^^ Deeply nested SCSS files are not yet supported xD

Example

DO

//style.css

// Here you can add a one line description of the class
.some-class-name {
  line-height: 24px;
  font-size: 16px;
  font-weight: 500;
}
// Awesome background and color
.next-class-name {
  color: black;
  background-color: white;
}

DONT

// Here you can add a one line description of the class
.some-class-name {
  line-height: 24px;
  font-size: 16px;
  font-weight: 500;

  // Awesome background and color
  .next-class-name {
    color: black;
    background-color: white;
  }
}

now run the command snipgen -d ./scss -o our-example

The output will be as follows:

//our-example.extension.code-snippets

{
  "line-height: 24px;\n  font-size: 16px;\n  font-weight: 500;": {
    "scope": "html",
    "prefix": "some-class-name",
    "body": ["some-class-name"],
    "description": "Here you can add a one line description of the class"
  },
  "color: black;\n  background-color: white;": {
    "scope": "html",
    "prefix": "next-class-name",
    "body": ["next-class-name"],
    "description": "Awesome background and color"
  }
}

Once you have received the file(s), move it to the .vscode folder (in the root directory of the project) and you are ready to go.

In our case we will move the file called: our-example.extension.code-snippets into the .vscode folder

After that you should be able to use the new generated snippets in your html files.

<div class="some-class-name"></div>
