Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@three-studio/editor

v0.3.0

Published

Editor UI: React shell, dock layout, viewport tooling, inspector.

Readme

@three-studio/editor

The editor UI of Three Studio — a desktop 3D game editor built on Three.js, React and Electron.

A React shell rather than a component library: dockable panels (Viewport, Game, Hierarchy, Inspector, Project, Console), transform gizmos and GPU picking in the viewport, an Inspector generated from each component's declared schema, a command registry driving the menu bar, the toolbar and the shortcuts, and the import dialog with its live previews.

npm install @three-studio/editor @three-studio/core @three-studio/runtime react react-dom three

Read this first

This package is the shell of a specific application, not a general-purpose editor widget. It expects a platform bridge on the host — the object @three-studio/core types as StudioBridge, which reads and writes projects, imports assets, compiles scripts and exports builds. Electron supplies it in Three Studio. Mounting Root without one gets you the launcher and nothing behind it.

It also needs the same three → three/webgpu bundler alias that @three-studio/runtime needs — see that package's README for why.

Use

import { Root } from '@three-studio/editor';
import '@three-studio/editor/styles.css';
import '@fontsource-variable/inter'; // the chrome asks for Inter Variable
import { createRoot } from 'react-dom/client';

// Deliberately no <StrictMode>: the viewport owns imperative GPU resources
// (renderer, device, physics world) and the double mount leaks a second one.
createRoot(document.getElementById('root')!).render(<Root />);

styles.css ships compiled — the Tailwind build, the design tokens and dockview's stylesheet in one file. If you write your own markup against the editor's utility classes, run Tailwind over your sources on your side; this stylesheet only carries what the editor itself uses.

Status

A proof of concept, and the most application-specific of the three packages. See the project README.
