Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

@tiden/telemetry-browser

v0.1.4

Published

Tiden error-tracking browser SDK. Emits the envelope wire format to a Tiden ingest endpoint, with no third-party error-SDK dependency.

Readme

@tiden/telemetry-browser

npm downloads license

Error-tracking SDK for browser apps. Automatically captures uncaught exceptions and unhandled promise rejections, lets you capture errors and messages manually, and reports them to your Tiden project. Zero runtime dependencies, TypeScript-first, tiny.

Install

npm install @tiden/telemetry-browser

Quick start

import { Tiden } from '@tiden/telemetry-browser'

Tiden.init({
  dsn: '<your-dsn>', // from your Tiden project settings
  release: '[email protected]',
  environment: 'production',
})

That's it — uncaught errors and unhandled rejections are now reported.

Capturing

// exceptions
try {
  risky()
} catch (err) {
  Tiden.captureException(err)
}

// messages
Tiden.captureMessage('checkout completed', 'info')

// context attached to subsequent events
Tiden.setUser({ id: 'u_123', email: '[email protected]' })
Tiden.setTag('plan', 'pro')

Configuration

Tiden.init(options):

| Option | Type | Default | Description | |---|---|---|---| | dsn | string | — | Required. Your project DSN. | | release | string | — | App version, e.g. [email protected]. | | environment | string | — | e.g. production, staging. | | sendDefaultPii | boolean | false | Send likely-PII. Off by default — common PII is scrubbed before sending. | | beforeSend | (event) => event \| null | — | Inspect, mutate, or drop an event. Return null to drop it. | | denyUrls | (string \| RegExp)[] | — | Drop errors whose top stack frame URL matches. | | maxBreadcrumbs | number | 100 | Size of the breadcrumb ring buffer. | | maxEventsPerPage | number | — | Cap events sent per page load (error-storm guard). |

API

| Method | Description | |---|---| | Tiden.init(options) | Initialize once at app startup. | | Tiden.captureException(error) | Report an exception. | | Tiden.captureMessage(message, level?) | Report a message (info, warning, error, …). | | Tiden.setUser(user \| null) | Attach or clear user context. | | Tiden.setTag(key, value) | Attach a searchable tag. |

Readable production stack traces

Minified bundles produce unreadable traces. Pair this with @tiden/telemetry-sourcemaps to upload source maps at build time so traces resolve back to your original code.
