Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Raw Discovery-driven CLIs for Google APIs not covered by gws: YouTube (Data/Analytics/Reporting) and Search Console

Readme

google-api — youtube-api + search-console-api

Raw JSON CLIs for the Google APIs that gws (Google Workspace CLI) does not expose: YouTube Data v3, YouTube Analytics v2, YouTube Reporting v1 and Search Console v1. Independent, not an official Google CLI. Zero dependencies (Node >= 20, plain fetch).

Commands are generated at runtime from Google's Discovery documents (cached 24h in ~/.cache/<bin>), so every resource/method/param of those APIs works with the API's own names:

youtube-api <resource> <method> --params '<query/path JSON>' --json '<body JSON>' [--upload FILE] [--output FILE] [--all]
youtube-api analytics reports query --params '{"ids":"channel==MINE","startDate":"2026-09-01","endDate":"2026-09-30","metrics":"views"}'
search-console-api searchanalytics query --params '{"siteUrl":"sc-domain:example.com"}' --json '{"startDate":"…","endDate":"…","dimensions":["query"]}'
youtube-api videos --help # methods; `videos insert --help` → params, scopes, upload limits
youtube-api api GET youtube/v3/channels --params '{"part":"id","mine":true}' # raw, *.googleapis.com only

Auth

OAuth 2.0 user token (no API keys for private data). Any of:

  • <bin> auth login --client-secret client_secret.json — loopback + PKCE (localhost:8642 YouTube, :8643 Search Console) with a Desktop app OAuth client whose project has the API enabled. Saves a refresh token.
  • <token | authorized_user JSON> | <bin> auth --token-stdin — e.g. a token minted by a server-side OAuth broker.
  • YOUTUBE_ACCESS_TOKEN / SEARCH_CONSOLE_ACCESS_TOKEN env.

Credentials: ~/.config/<bin>/credentials.json (0600). whoami = tokeninfo + channels / sites.

Default scopes: youtube.force-ssl yt-analytics.readonly and webmasters; override with --scopes.
