Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Run a TODO for AI sub-agent (FluidAgent) from the CLI. Pipe stdin in, ask a question, get an answer.

Install

npm install -g @todoforai/subagent
# or in the workspace:
cd api-apps/todoforai-subagent
bun install && bun run build
chmod +x dist/cli.js
ln -s "$(pwd)/dist/cli.js" ~/.local/bin/todoforai-subagent

Auth

export TODOFORAI_API_KEY=sk_...
# or pass --api-key
# or rely on ~/.todoforai/credentials.json (written by `todoforai login`)

Usage

curl https://example.com | todoforai-subagent "What color is this site?"
todoforai-subagent -m openai:openai/gpt-5.4-mini "Translate to Hungarian: hello"
echo "1+1" | todoforai-subagent -s "You are a calculator." "Compute"

Flags

| Flag | Description | |------|-------------| | -m, --model | Model (default: openai:openai/gpt-5.4-mini) | | -s, --sysmsg | System message: :<preset> | @<file> | raw text. Presets: :review, :explore, :plan, :summarize | | --tools | Comma-separated tool names (e.g. read,grep,bash) | | --timeout | Timeout seconds (default: 120, max: 1800) | | --api-url | API URL override | | --api-key | API key override | | --no-stdin | Ignore piped stdin | | -h, --help | Show help | | -v, --version | Show version |

Companion CLIs

  • todoforai-review — diff a repo and ask the agent to review it
  • todoforai-explore — ask the agent to map a codebase
  • todoforai-summary — summarize files or piped input

Default models per CLI

| CLI | Default model | Rationale | |-----|---------------|-----------| | todoforai-subagent | BALANCED_MODEL | General-purpose baseline | | todoforai-explore | BALANCED_MODEL | Codebase mapping needs reasoning | | todoforai-review | CLEVER_MODEL | Smartest model — review quality matters | | todoforai-summary | FAST_MODEL | Fast/cheap — fits summarization workload |

Single source of truth: src/models.ts — bump model strings there, all CLIs follow.

How it works

todoforai-subagent posts to POST {api-url}/api/v1/subagent/work with the prompt; the backend dispatches it via WebSocket to a connected Julia agent process, which runs FluidAgent.work() and returns the response.
