Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

v0.2.0

TOPY.AI's AI CEO on the command line: your projects, business plans and revisions, investors and CEO records, plus a local MCP server for clients that run one.

@topy-ai/ceo-cli — TOPY.AI's AI CEO in your terminal

TOPY.AI writes and maintains founders' business plans and keeps their CEO records. This package brings the same tools to a terminal (ceo-cli). They are the tools of TOPY's remote MCP server, https://topy.ai/mcp, so the CLI, Claude, ChatGPT and your own agents follow the same rules.

| Package | What it is | |---|---| | @topy-ai/ceo-cli | this CLI, ceo-cli | | @topy-ai/ceo-mcp | a local stdio MCP server, ceo-mcp, for clients that only run local servers | | @topy-ai/ceo-skills | the AI CEO skills for Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI and other agents |

Install and sign in

npm i -g @topy-ai/ceo-cli # or run any command with npx @topy-ai/ceo-cli …
ceo-cli login # opens topy.ai to approve this device (read-only: --read-only)
ceo-cli whoami

Instead of signing in you can export an API key from Dashboard → API keys: export TOPY_API_KEY=topy_….

Use it

ceo-cli tools # every tool, by group, with its risk
ceo-cli help plan_generate # a tool's arguments
ceo-cli projects_list
ceo-cli plans_list --project <project-id>
ceo-cli plan_get --plan-id <id> --section 3
ceo-cli plan_revise_analyze --plan-id <id> --change-request "raise £250k instead of £200k, hire a CTO in Q2 2027"
ceo-cli plan_status --job-id <job-id>
ceo-cli decision_create --title "Price at £49/month" --decision "…" --rationale "…"

A tool that changes something prints a preview first and asks Go ahead? [y/N]. Nothing changes until you say yes; in scripts, pass --yes only when the change was already agreed. Generating a plan costs 50 TOPY credits and the preview shows your balance. --json prints the raw result.

| Risk | Meaning | |---|---| | R0 | reads | | W1 | changes something you can change back | | W2 | spends TOPY credits | | W4 | deletes for good |

Workflows

ceo-cli prompts # idea-to-business-plan, revise-plan, investor-ready-check, …
ceo-cli prompt revise-plan --change "push launch to Q3 2027"

Connect an AI assistant

  • Claude / ChatGPT (web and desktop) — add a custom connector with the URL https://topy.ai/mcp and sign in to TOPY when asked.
  • Claude Code — claude mcp add --transport http topy https://topy.ai/mcp
  • Cursor and other clients with remote MCP — server URL https://topy.ai/mcp (OAuth).
  • Clients that only run local servers — after ceo-cli login (or with TOPY_API_KEY set):
{ "mcpServers": { "topy": { "command": "npx", "args": ["-y", "@topy-ai/ceo-mcp"] } } }

ceo-cli mcp runs the same server from this package.

Skills for your agent

npx @topy-ai/ceo-skills install # Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, Gemini CLI, … (asks which)
npx @topy-ai/ceo-skills list # the catalogue

Settings

| Variable | Default | | |---|---|---| | TOPY_API_KEY | — | use this key instead of the saved sign-in | | TOPY_BASE_URL | https://topy.ai | another TOPY server | | TOPY_CONFIG_DIR | ~/.config/topy | where the sign-in is kept (credentials.json, mode 600) |

ceo-cli logout revokes this device's access. Connected apps and devices are listed under Dashboard → API keys, where they can be disconnected.
