Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

Bun plugin for the TSRX Hono JSX targets

Readme

@tsrx/bun-plugin-hono

Bun plugin for compiling @tsrx/hono .tsrx files.

Installation

pnpm add hono @tsrx/hono
pnpm add -D @tsrx/bun-plugin-hono

Install @tsrx/hono directly so the TSRX TypeScript plugin can discover the compiler from the application workspace under strict package managers.

Usage

import tsrxHono from '@tsrx/bun-plugin-hono';

await Bun.build({
  entrypoints: ['./src/App.tsrx'],
  outdir: './dist',
  plugins: [tsrxHono()],
});

The default server mode targets hono/jsx. Use tsrxHono({ mode: 'dom' }) for browser builds targeting hono/jsx/dom. The plugin runs Bun's automatic JSX transform and emits TSRX <style> blocks as virtual CSS modules.

To build server and browser entrypoints from one script, run two Bun builds and share only the options that are independent of the Hono runtime:

const common = {
  splitting: true,
  sourcemap: 'external',
};

for (const target of [
  { mode: 'dom', entrypoint: './src/client-entry.tsrx', outdir: './dist/client' },
  {
    mode: 'server',
    entrypoint: './src/server-entry.tsrx',
    outdir: './dist/server',
  },
] as const) {
  const result = await Bun.build({
    ...common,
    entrypoints: [target.entrypoint],
    outdir: target.outdir,
    plugins: [tsrxHono({ mode: target.mode })],
  });

  if (!result.success) throw new Error(`Bun build failed: ${target.mode}`);
}

One plugin instance and one Bun build use one Hono mode. A .tsrx module used by both entrypoint graphs is compiled separately in each build and must be valid for both runtimes.

For bun:test, register the plugin from a preload:

import tsrxHono from '@tsrx/bun-plugin-hono';

Bun.plugin(tsrxHono());

Options are mode, runtimeImports, platform, and emitCss.

The plugin reads tsrx.platform (web, ios, or android) from the active build tsconfig and specializes import.meta.env.platform.* at compile time. platform is an optional explicit override and is independent of the Hono server/dom mode.

runtimeImports: 'direct' is a limited helper-import mode for Hono: shared helpers use @tsrx/core/runtime/*, while Hono-specific adapters still use @tsrx/hono/* because Hono has no separate standalone runtime package. If the compiled modules are published or built with direct imports, declare both packages directly:

pnpm add @tsrx/core @tsrx/hono hono
