Optimize Toolset

I’ve always been into building performant and accessible sites, but lately I’ve been taking it extremely seriously. So much so that I’ve been building a tool to help me optimize and monitor the sites that I build to make sure that I’m making an attempt to offer the best experience to those who visit them. If you’re into performant, accessible and SEO friendly sites, you might like it too! You can check it out at Optimize Toolset.

About

Hi, 👋, I’m Ryan Hefner  and I built this site for me, and you! The goal of this site was to provide an easy way for me to check the stats on my npm packages, both for prioritizing issues and updates, and to give me a little kick in the pants to keep up on stuff.

As I was building it, I realized that I was actually using the tool to build the tool, and figured I might as well put this out there and hopefully others will find it to be a fast and useful way to search and browse npm packages as I have.

If you’re interested in other things I’m working on, follow me on Twitter or check out the open source projects I’ve been publishing on GitHub.

I am also working on a Twitter bot for this site to tweet the most popular, newest, random packages from npm. Please follow that account now and it will start sending out packages soon–ish.

Open Software & Tools

This site wouldn’t be possible without the immense generosity and tireless efforts from the people who make contributions to the world and share their work via open source initiatives. Thank you 🙏

TFRS shared authentication contracts, token exchange, caching, and JWT verification

@turingfocus/tfrs-auth

Framework-independent TypeScript client primitives for TFRS access tokens.

import {
  CachingTokenSource,
  ClientCredentials,
  createBearerFetch,
  JwtVerifier,
} from "@turingfocus/tfrs-auth";

const credential = ClientCredentials.forRobot({
  clientId: "turingfocus:000101",
  clientSecret: process.env.TFRS_CLIENT_SECRET!,
  calleeOrgSlug: "turingfocus",
  calleeEmployeeNo: "000042",
  scope: ["a2a:invoke"],
});

const source = new CachingTokenSource(credential, {
  tokenUrl: "https://user.example.com/api/v1/oauth/token",
});

const authenticatedFetch = createBearerFetch(source);
await authenticatedFetch("https://api.example.com/data");

const verifier = JwtVerifier.fromUrl(
  "https://user.example.com/.well-known/jwks.json",
  {
    issuer: "https://user.example.com",
    audience: "robot:turingfocus:000042",
  },
);
const claims = await verifier.verify(accessToken, {
  requiredScope: "a2a:invoke",
});

TFRSManager is the source of truth for all mirrored wire contracts. Server-side framework middleware and authorization enforcement are intentionally excluded.

Session-profile tokens

A user subject can request the session-profile Robot access token (TFRM-189, server-controlled TTL, default 12h) instead of the 5-minute connection profile by setting tokenProfile on the credential. When omitted, the wire form contains no token_profile field and the default profile applies:

import { TokenProfile, UserJwtCredential } from "@turingfocus/tfrs-auth";

const sessionCredential = new UserJwtCredential({
  userJwt,
  audience: "robot:turingfocus:000042",
  scope: "a2a:invoke",
  tokenProfile: TokenProfile.Session,
});

Only UserJwtCredential exposes tokenProfile; machine identities (ClientCredentials, PatCredential) cannot express it, and unknown profile values or non-JWT subject types are rejected at the form boundary.

Each CachingTokenSource holds the private cache of its single credential, so profiles are structurally isolated: build one source per profile and their tokens never mix.

Testing

The nine test files mirror the Python package suites. Run pnpm test for the hermetic suite, pnpm test:coverage for enforced coverage thresholds, and pnpm test:e2e for the three independently gated live Manager grants. The complete mapping is documented in ../../docs/test-parity.md.
